Alpha Build 7.5 for Patrons

Woo, I'm exhausted so these patch notes may not be comprehensive; I'll go back through them and add anything I missed later.

Sorry for the lessened communication this month: scheduling and workload made it difficult for us to keep up with blog updates. We'll try to have more consistent blog updates next month.

Mostly this month was heavily dedicated to the UI overhaul which has been quite a task. The vast majority of the game takes place in the breeding menu, so we tried to focus on getting it right. Unfortunately, the new tabs and sorting system are not in place yet, but those should come soon. Also, we delayed the inclusion of the ranch assistant system, as much of the UI we'll use for that will be based on UI we develop for the breeding menu, etc. I'm pretty pleased with how the breeding menu is turning out, but I'm eager to see feedback on it.

Also, the writing for this month's new Kay event comes from Gats! (with some hackish editing from yours truly :P)

7.5 Patch Notes

Additions
- New Kay Event, complete with animation! Explore the beach when you have adequate affection with her to trigger the event. If you have more affection, you'll get a better sex scene!
- New Breeding animations: Dire Titwolf x Fbreeder, Titpup x Fbreeder
- Brand new Breeding and Item Menus: these were significant overhauls that are still in progress, so some functionality is not yet implemented/expect some bugs/poor optimization. Also, give us feedback on how you like these new menus!

Bug Fixes / Balance
- Did some optimization with how colors are applied to monsters, hopefully this means animations should load faster, but it may have introduced some color issues to some animations
- Minor bug fixes

Known Issues
- May be some bugs/lost functionality in the breeding and inventory menus due to the overhauls; we plan to hotfix these over time
- Removed the Aitako event (Kay's event is replacing it), also, the sponge Kay gives you currently looks the same as the pink pearl; this will change in the future
- There may be some weird game behavior when monsters with disabled traits are obtained
- Some animations are glitchy due to design changes and colors
- Colors/variations are incorrect in a number of pens and animations

Expect the public release sometime this week.

    2. Some suggest highlighting the pier using the Tab key and hitting space or enter.
      Have you tried that?
      Still, it's a bug that was not caught... because they didn't test the code before release.

    6. Paypal is perfectly fine with allowing money paid towards adult games and artwork. That's absolutely a-ok with them. You can even call up their CS and ask them about it directly. It's not a problem at all. What PayPal works heard to prevent is the use of their service for the trade of -actual- sexual services; RL prostitution and similar things, which can get PayPal themselves in serious legal trouble. Art work and games are not restricted in the slightest. Seriously - contact Paypal directly and ask their CS if you are uncertain or doubtful, they will be quite happy to explain the differences.

    7. Not sure where you got that information but I have seen dozens of artists suspended by Paypal and almost hundreds more not using it on the grounds that they don't tolerate adult content of any kind

    8. Information comes from PayPal ^.^ Like I said, you can contact their CS and ask about it if you doubt.

      What it comes down to is being clear about exactly what it is, and what it isn't. They suspend quickly if there's any possibility, due to poor clarity or lack of specific details, that the payment might be for or related to something illegal, or an actual adult service of any description, which includes things like payment for adult modeling too... But if it is made explicitly clear that there is no real-world service of any description being provided for money, then it's actually fine.

    9. Whatever Paypal's official policy or CS department says, they still frequently prohibit payments towards adult furry anything. For example, High Tail Hall was trying to accept Paypal for like two years and actually had it working briefly and then got banned again and Paypal stopped returning their calls as of a few months ago. Read about it in the history on their home page.

  4. How do you raise affection? Or is it possible to talk with the NPC´s now? ive only managed to enter their shops before. :/

    1. Affection is raised by fulfilling an NPC's breeding request- You'll notice that when you fuffil one it will say something along the lines of -Sold "Xmonster", got 1090 gil, Kay +50 affection.

      You can check the level of NPC's affection on your breeder card. Its around the options icon I think?

  6. Umm... I know you guys were working on the UI etc. but what about animations? I thought Vanilly and Subtank were making those separately from the UI designing? It's a disappointing addition from the animator's side to be honest... and since we're not getting harpies this month, I'm guessing everything moves by a month, which means the MBreeder will be started even later :( (sad sniff).

    But on the other hand I'm glad there has been so much work done in the other departments ;) Keep up the good work guys!

    2. Well good news. I found a way out of the frozen screen. When you get the message press tab, a yellow box should appear around the pier. Press spacebar to get to the pier. From the pier you can either use the map or go back to the beach. If you go back to the beach you might encounter the same message again.

  8. Well for suggestions on the UI, i would love something like custom made tags. My issues is that to remember which monster is for what i ended up renaming them with "tags" like "harvesting" "donate" etc.
    I trust yours interpretation on that xD

  10. Two animations in a month?
    Look, I get you're trying to take care of a lot, but remember that this is first and foremost an H-Game for most.

    Every single animation that's ready should be released in each update, padding everything out is bad.

    From having a separate division for animation, it truly seems unlikely that 2 in a single month is all you've done.

    Unless there's some huge dump planned, at this rate, it's going to take a decade or more for everything to be given to us.

    1. It's true, since Vanilly and Subtank were not part of making the UI changes (at least not to our knowledge), 3 animations are not so much of a progress...

      Let's just hope we will be positively surprised soon. Right now the situation with animations is rather "sour" so to say.

    2. 2 new animations from 2 pro animators after 1 month is trully a bad joke. What did they've done in this whole month? They are not involved in IU changes whatsoever. The only positive thing is harpies are going to get delayed for a month, and so the others monsters as well. So much for the 7 animations per month promise. They probably think we can be fooled over IU changes and minor event animations but I can tell they have lost interest making animations, seeing from last update.

    4. Even if you're right, they can just tell us whether or not the animations are actually MADE. Because I remember Spurple still making harpy faces/variants by the end of the month, so those are not finished. And if they were focusing on the NPC animations, why is there only one instead of the four which were announced?

      Major reason why people are so pissed is because the devs don't communicate properly with us.

  12. I realize that the UI overhaul might interfere with animation triggering and how well the game functions. I do understand how hard it is to code any game and configure it over again while still maintaining stability with the original format. But I do not understand how you can have a separate group of people doing animations vs the people coding and still only roll out 2 animations. To top it off some of the ones that were already in the game still haven't been overhauled and cleaned up so they still look half asked. I'm sorry that my comment seems so negative but I don't really see any other way to get my point accross. There are so many variables to what we are promised and then at the end of the month it seems like we take 1 step forward and 2 steps back. As for the engine and menu, I live where it is headed. But we need to make sure that all that hard work is accompanied by great sex. Otherwise most people won't have the rewarding feeling that keeps them striving to play the game forward and use all that hard work in the rest of the game. Other than that, good work. Please get The animation team to step up this month

    2. If you support at the level for "debug codes", that would be 10$ a month. For six months that's 60$ dollars.
      How many animations does that give you? Maybe 30, if we are optimistic.
      Consider that your 60$ would buy you a brand new, completely finished AAA game! All animations included. And there are some great H-games out there.
      But let's say you contribute only 1$ a month. For about 1-2 years you would have payed the price of a decent indie game, again - all animations included, that you could go buy right now! Can you hope this game would be finished in 1-2 years with this pace?
      I am sorry for this post, I really hate to bring another wave of negativity, because I love the idea of this game and it certainly deserves better. Please don't take my criticism the wrong way - I want the game to be great. That's why I get frustrated when I see it going the wrong way. I really hope the devs can get organized better and start making some real headway.

  15. I noticed sometimes even if you have a monster that fits the requirements it will present me with an empty selection window. To finish the quest I have to wait for the next day.
    Also it would be great if the sponges were to stack somehow possibly by quality so they don't completely fill up the inventory. Unless you are not supposed to get more than one.

  16. People really need to stop complaining about animations, and errors. At least in an insulting way. These guys are working hard to bring you what you new content, and sometimes things are shafted a little to bring you better stuff. Honestly the 7.5 update is pretty sweet. I do wish there were more animations available, but that's alright. The New UI so far is outstanding. So far, so good. I don't mind the new beginning either. I thought it was cheeky of them to have boobs show up when you chose the female character, though I wish they had something a bit more for the guy to help even it out. xD But it's more natural the way it is.

    1. Working hard? Have you ever watched one of their streams? Personally I watched Spurp a few times, out of 10 hours of streaming, summing it up, 2-3 were him doing something productive, the rest he's afk/watching something/talking nonsense, same goes for fleep, vanilly rarely shows up, hbomb half of the time streamed he's actually working but he plays with the code, making it look that he's working while no one is watching. PLUS they don't even stream every working day, so you can't be sure they're actually working, which I'm pretty sure they are not.

    2. Unfortunately I have to agree that the amount of work done during streams is small. Mainly they work the most by the end of the month, when the update is coming.

      And as for the complaining, many people are civil while writing their concerns.The reaction is still usually "go fuck yourself", so...

      I'm not saying that there are no insults in the comments, but I just wish that the team would make a responsive post, telling us how much of the comments they actually read, and what is the situation. Because many times (for example like right now) people have real issues, like the fact that this update is mainly UI rehaulling, while during the month we were being shown 4 NPC animation concepts, and harpy/holstaurus scenes, from which we only got 1 NPC animation, and 2 over-due breeding animations. Of course people are gonna be upset, especially when we were promised 7 animations/month from Vanilly only, so where is Subtank in there?

      And if such things are happening, then we want to know, why?

      And a message to the devs: There is a lot of money involved in this project, and we understand that if someone is getting such a nice payment, they obviously don't want to change it. But at the same time that money is not for the creators, it's for the project, so it should be allocated there. Hire a manager to organize the work, hire 1-2 more animators, maybe another art designer or programmer. Otherwise, this BS project has not much more life to it, and once the team will be forced to get another job to sustain themselves, it's gonna be the end of Breeding Season.

  21. The biggest thing for me is that they tighten up the UI to minimize the number of superfluous clicks required to get things done. For instance when you click on the breeding pen initially it brings you to the blank breeding screen, another click to get into the monster list. The fist click should bring you right to the monster list for expediency. Click Feeding -> Click Consumable -> Click Feeding (back to main breeding window). Same with harvesting.

    As for the UI: 1) the font used for the Trait and Preference boxes on a monsters stat card is interesting, but completely unintelligible to actually read and confuses what it it trying to convey. 2)The pregnancy and energy cost card at the bottom looks odd as the card itself is slanted but the text is not. It also covers the Feeding and Harvesting button. 3) The boxes for Traits and Preferences take up a lot of room as they are; if you made them into unfurling tabs that opened up to their full size with a click and minimized only to a single line you could open up some more real estate for other information like last mate or navigation buttons to Donate/Requests/Rename. 4) The UI does not necessarily need to show ALL the information ALL the time; just core statistics plus links to more detailed menus would save you space and increase efficiency.

The problem I think I'm seeing is that instead of having any school or career-oriented game development experience, most of the artists of these adult games are self taught and have no clue how to manage a team or how to delegate workloads. That being said, I'm impressed any of these games have gotten to where they are. With most of these projects, I'm imagining a team of young, inexperienced pot heads making a perverted game.

      - a quick shortcut button to switch blue and orange tab , other than the little arrow on the corner. Maybe a little bookmark on the middle with two side colors

  25. Couple things with the new UI while it is good, theres no incest warnings, so I forget which monsters are related, getting a bunch of gremlins. Also, feeding and harvesting is a bit of a hassle because you have to click the feeding/harvesting buttons twice, once when the menu is closed, again when its open. Itd be easier if you could just hit harvest or feed and it would go straight to the consumables menu, are straight to harvesting. Also sometimes the menu doesnt close after selecting the monster you want (mostly with the serephs) which means you have to hit the back button, which is too small and located too close to the X on the entire breeding UI, I hope you take the time to read this, and I appreciate the work you guys are doing!

  28. Ignoring the lack of animations...

    The new breeding UI is pretty. That's all it is. It takes more work than ever to do anything now, more mouse movement, more clicking, more eye movement to check stuff. This isn't ergonomic at all. I felt the same way LAST breeding menu update as well. The first iteration was my favorite; Click monster 1 then one more click for monster 2. Bam bang, it's done. Now it takes about 3~4 clicks per set breeded, and to make matters worse instead of switching some close together tabs, you have to move to the edges of the screen to switch. Really not a fan.

  29. I encountered a major bug with the new UI. If I have too many monsters, I can't open the menus to select monsters in the new breeding UI. When the bug occurs, monster stats in one panel say "Lvl XXX" and so forth. I was able to reproduce this bug using a new save file, so it's not just imported data. This is a game-breaking bug and makes it impossible to use save files from 7.4 if they have a lot of monsters.

    1. The same thing happened to me with an imported 7.4 save. It makes the game unplayable. Furthermore, I found that I couldn't even select the monsters from within their respective pens, never mind the breeding pen.

  30. Any chance of the story developing any time soon? I've been waiting for years (no joke) to be able to bang Margo or the Inquisitor lady. Fuck balancing, just start working on the story. I don't even bother playing anymore because what's the point of playing till you have all the traits/etc if it's always the same (and you gotta restart your saves every time).

    2. Do you think they'll fix up the Test Text thing in a hotfix build soon? And when the free version of 7.5 (7.5.1 as it may be) gets ported, I hope that's included.

      In earlier builds, I noticed that when you talk to Levi the first time and skip through his dialogue, sometimes "Hi, I am test text" will appear in his dialogue box before it continues... but it's a brief flash. I don't think it happens anymore. Can someone test 7.3 to see if it does?

  32. First impressions: not a fan of new UI. Its getting more and more for looks and less for functionality (im more of a functionality center guy). At the start it's fine and nice to look at, but later when you speed breed for stats it's annoyingly slow. Needs some hotkeys at least. :)

  34. Ok, so first thoughts about the new UI. These are my honest thoughts and are not meant to be an insult or hamper creativity.

    1. I don't know if i have a faulty version or anything, but the breed button overlaps with important parts of the ui. For example the feed and harvest buttons, as well as the preferences part. http://puu.sh/oEFuN/d2515c9fab.png http://puu.sh/oEFvN/f1137bc231.png
    2. The UI doesn't place the previously bred couple up top anymore. This might also be a bug.
    3. I like the new UI for the sell/buy consumables, although some of the consumables don't have any names or descriptions but can still be bought.
    4. This one kind of goes hand in hand with nr 1. It is hard to see which preferences the different creatures have. I am sure this is just something you have to get used to, but it feels rather inconvenient compared to the previous itteration.
    5. The UI feels slow and sluggish, even on my up to date computer. I know you stated that optimization has to be made, and i am 100% sure that it will be done.
    6. Other than that, the UI looks good. I enjoy seeing the creatures before breeding and i think that with some getting used to, this UI can become really good.

    sidenote: In the last itterations, when breeding a creature with the breeder, the breeder was never moved to the top(like with other creatures). Could this be changed? cause its rather annoying having to scroll to the bottom just to find the breeder every time.

  35. question: is it possible to get several traits requested in one monster from the guild? i'm trying to make odd combos, but it's really hard to breed the combo :C i can get 2 traits, but 3 is just damn impossible x.x

    1. Not from the Guild.
      But if you upgrade the Monster Shop, there will be more monsters with more traits. You might get lucky and find one that has two of the required traits in this way.

    2. I find it super easy to make combos, often they have actually more traits than i would like, its hard to lose a specific trait.
      Try to use seraphs, i had my seraphs basically getting all traits from both parents :P

    3. I remember at one point I had a monster with these traits:
      Genderbent, Futanari, All Night Long 4, Too Stronk 3 and Fertile 4.

      Pretty sure it was a Titwolf.
      It also had a thing for her sister and mother.

  36. There are many bugs in this release, but here is the most important part for Subtank:
    Don't speed up the animation in order to make the sex look more intense. It looked horeendously bad in the FBreeder X Amadour animation and it doesn't look much better in the NeoTitwolf X FBreeder animation.
    Honestly, you should go back to atleast the later animation and come up with different loops instead of just speeding up that one loop. Also, let each loop play out for longer. An animation that is done after 5 seconds isn't very appealing. Las but not least, the non-autoplay version of that animation is still behaving like autoplay is enabled for some loops.

    Two more bugreports for Fleet:
    - Catguy idle anim: the eye animation has a bug for some skin colors.
    - NeoTitwolf X FBreeder anim: Head 6 is disconnected from the body during the first loop.

      Have they finished out all the Catgirl anims yet? Rather they finish one set before starting on another, but that's my opinion. Cutting and setting takes work, I know, but they did say ~7 per month, correct? That - I think - equates to at least a full concept set every month:
      Normal Male, Normal Female, Feral Male, Feral Female, Futa, Neo Male and Neo Female. Seven. I'm not saying that it should be cut and dried like this (RL issues) but they did say ~7 anims a month.

When you think about these people working hard to make this game remember there's always somebody working a little bit more harder and perfecting their craft a list of spending twenty-four hours a day to work their guts out and make the best game possible if that was the case this game moving forward But first you have to look at animation in graphics if it's not too hot so it should be easy to draw skin in the game animations too slow what's the little animation that's in the game so far it should be a little bit quicker but it ain't I ain't saying going two great animation too bad animation I'm saying there's not much animation in the game to begin with besides couple sex sings

    1. Oh, this again.
      Um, some others have suggested hitting Tab to highlight the pier and pressing either space or enter to move on... But with the Mysterious Urn, it's an even bigger problem than most had as it borks the quest irreparably. Hopefully they see all these Test Text posts and figure out that the whole beach is borked because of it.

    2. That test text seems to be a random event. I got it soon after starting the game, long before the urn quest, and kept getting it infrequently when visiting the beach hoping to get the pearl (which I never got - is it still in the game?). My solution has always been to close the game and reload. I got the test text twice after finding puzzle pieces, but managed to get all four pieces at other times without the test text freezing it.

      The new UI doesn't seem to let you activate the urn in inventory so the urn appears to be useless. I also got Kay's sponge and can't activate it in inventory or figure any other way of using it.

  41. Not crazy about this update.

    Feedback on UI: It definitely looks better, but it takes significantly longer to set up a pair breeding now. That kinds kills off any gain from it looking nicer. The animated tab scrolling up seemed like a nice touch, but after an hour of playing I hated it (it's slow). For me at least, anything that slows down efficiency isn't an improvement. Sure it's pretty, but think about gameplay.

    Feedback on Animation: Seriously? We got 2 more animations (that most were expecting last month), and an event. Quit playing Ark and actually do something if you want to keep me as a supporter. You guys are bringing in enough for this to be a full time job, treat it as one.

    I have to agree with everyone else here we need the animations and maybe even a variable on the animations
    so its not all dogs doggy style
    some sounds might be good too ,dog panting and growling maybe an occasional howling orgasm

    2. If you don't want to sell monsters, Gremlins are a usable stand-in for the breeding requests.
      Gremlin harpies are still adorable.
      Also, the Direwolf animation isn't just straight up doggystyle. But yeah, let's see that Gangbang animation make a return.
      As for anim variants, it would be nice but let's see them incorporate the rest first before we throw more work at them... It'd only slow them down even more.

      But I hear you; the incest warning needs to come back.

      I played this game a few years ago ,just became a patron to see how it is progressing
      it seems a lot has been reworked cleaned up etc ,but no offense to the development team i really thought they would be further along maybe they had some setbacks or changes i am not aware of
      i don't know i have not ever tried to code or write a game the most i have done is make a few things in blender and animate them with rigging etc
      i will keep an open mind ,and see how things go ,all and all its a great concept
      and i am looking forward to see how far they can take it

    4. I started playing the new versions around 6.4 or so, and I honestly think most of the delay is in the total redesign the game has been having. However, they ought be used to it by now (unless ActionScript4 comes out in the meantime). I looked back over a MUCH older V4.something release and the art is much less cartoony than it was (due to the heavy black outlines being removed). One thing that I am sorry to see changed is the look of Lily. She was much nicer looking back then.

  46. I was seriously considering becoming a Patreon to continue this game- but ONLY if animations got fixed in the downloadable version. I don't like playing games that might not be saved online. :/

    And really? Apparently animations are not fixed after quite a long wait, from what I've been hearing. It's a sex game. I understand that you guys want the art to be pretty, but... it's a sex game. People want animations and noise. =/ THAT was the entire thing that got me hooked on NG.

  47. I hate the new interface. To harvest, I have to click two extra times, both in places that couldn't be further apart. You can no longer quickly compare different mates in exchange for glitchy sliding graphics non-stop. Which personally I find annoying on my eyes. Here I am waiting for half a year for filters that work and more ways to sort. I haven't played 7.4 but in 7.3 at least you could sort by exp. And one of the biggest problems with this game is that later on when you get a full business auto-harvesting max animals in each place... so you can make more money... it's sooooo bloody fucking tedious selling every different star level of the same thing. And you know I prefer words that tell me what things are instead of having to memorize dumb little pictures. I think you could use much better use of the space in the shop. It is nice that there's no more need to scroll down to see all your attributes for every animal but I still think this build is 12 steps backwards. And I would like to see an option to get rid of confirmation things and the things to select the names. I just use the given names. I'm dealing with thousands of animals here. Some I'm keeping for like, 2 days. I don't want to name them all. And for those who do, they can do it by using the rename button. And for the hotkeys, PLEASE make them not the function keys anymore. I'm playing on a laptop and all those keys do different things so I have to press "fn" and the key itself. So I might as well just stick with clicking back and forth a half screen away.

    cons

    1. harder to move around in it
    2. easier to hit the feeding and harvest not on purpose
    3. animations are still lacking
    4. there is no list by monster type
    5. the feeding is harder to find your items
    6. the new icons for favoritism and traits are hard to understand for newer players plus you have to double click in and out of menu to be able to move mouse to the traits to see what they are
    7. the flipping to the other side of screen is confusing of monsters vs stats
    8. energy and chance to bred are harder to understand with the symbols

    pros

    1. like the new fbreeder options but still lacking from earlier versions on sex stances
    2. like the new events
    3. more npcs in game
    4. like the larger monster images shows more detail on images

    look i love the game... but ever time you guys do a upgrade you completely change the menu ... the earlyer versions of the menu are fine they just need to be played with to make better... the total over haul on menu is not needed

    i know the animations take awhile but if you guys are changing to the menus to have something new to show for a update ...because menus are easy to change and dont take as long as the animations... please stop... you have stuff that works just do small changes to existing menus and do the new npcs and events and animations slowly and your patrons would be happier....i would rather wait a couple of months for those then i new update ever month with a more confusing menu

    dont know if you will listen to this ...you guys seem to not have a good feedback systems and reply with your patrons from the comments

    p.s i love the upgraded buildings but put a box above the next upgrade that shows what you get for would be nice like lvl1 is this lvl 2 this and lvl 3 unlocks swine and other monsters would be nice lets us see whats up coming keeps us interested in getting to that lvl right now we have no clue as new players as to how in the game to unlock them

    oh bring back the bjs and oral back....ask any woman foreplay is part of any good sexual experience ...and why have the check marks for the feral neto and others if theirs no scenes at all?
