"It's Totally Friday" Programming Update

We're planning on having regular programming updates from now on along with the Monday art updates. This was supposed to go up on Friday, but...well...give us a little to get into the groove, alright :P?

We've done a number of bug fixes (futa demoness should work now, etc), will have some more colors working correctly, and will have the Yuelia event all good to go in our next hotfix (7.1.1), which we're planning to have go up early next week.

In other programming news, we're going to be splitting the game up so it'll no longer be a single swf, and will load animations from external swfs instead. We're trying to set this up in the way that will be least disruptive to players as possible (you'll just have a single .exe or .swf to actually play the game, and the other .swfs will be loading from an additional folder). It's necessary because a single .swf just wouldn't be able to hold the number of symbols required for the huge number of animations we have planned. Hopefully this will also make the game more stable and will reduce some big time bottlenecks we have while working with the game (publishing such a big .fla every time we test something was a big time waster).

  1. So it would load modules (other .swf) as needed and keep in ram or would load those modules each time animation is needed? I'm not versed in java, but i figure the latter option would add stutters on each breeding start as the animation modules are being loaded.
Just ideas, don't know how Your code is structured, but am interested :)

  2. hell, this might even open up the possibility of multiple, randomly chosen animations for each combination, or even fan-made animations to be dlc

  4. And about current save transfer? With this plan , we can keep our 7.1 data?

  5. It seems you guys are only getting better now, despite the criticism. And I like the idea of sharing programming updates, kinda like what the Banished game one-man dev did. i might learn some useful things from you guys.

    Keep up the good work!

  6. Hey guys, can we get an update over at Kimochi please? We're still hosting 6.6.1 over there.
    Thanks

The posts over the last few months look like your team has gotten some solid footing under yourselves and really started to come together as a team with some clear direction. The tone of the posts also suggest that the moral has improved with the change. It's nice to see the improvements. :)

  8. Hey H-Bomb, I know this isn't really the right way to be doing this but I would like to contact you. Do you have an email address or something I can use to communicate? My email is xxatartiexx@gmail.com if you want to get in touch, I'm a huge fan of your work.

  11. Hi. How do i contact the developer team? I'm a former musician and i'd like to volunteer (i'll say it again, volunteer) to provide some soundtrack to the game. Would you guys be interested?

    1. Not really. They posted a Friday update on a Tuesday. That counts as this week's Friday update.
Will 7.1.1 be a Public release, or will we have to wait for 7.2?

  15. all the animations they won't finish. Then add more story without the animations because they are "coming soon!" Sorry "X excuse" liked the beginning of this game when they actually thought about animations. Because nobody is playing this game for the story.

  16. Any chance for Android release? I was able to play the SWF file pretty okay in Dolphin or Firefox browser on Android but an actual APK would be so much better. Also as far as I know it's not even that hard to export flash to APK.

    1. I don't see why not. People have had Slave Maker run on Android. Granted, the anims in this are very detailed (one of the debug Fluffdragons actually causes lag) so there may be some issues with in regard to an APK port.

    1. Me neither. I wasn't enamored of this when I first played it (quite some time ago now) but they're making it better a little at a time, the way it should be.

Too much at once and it may overwhelm both players and devs.

  18. So what time is the update today?

  19. Apparently they completely forgot they were supposed to share news every now and then. A brief news update takes about 5 minutes to make. Should not be that difficult.

    1. I think Spurp is supposed to make it, but for some reason he didn't stream almost at all yesterday. You can see on picarto that his stream was just 30minutes

  20. lol why am i not surprised that the news updates stopped again. Is it really that hard to be consistent and make updates to the promissed days? Mondays and Fridays 15-30 minutes, depending on the content, is it really that much to ask for?

jesus fucking christ man, no organisation skills whatsoever.
