Hotfix 6.5.2 for Patrons

Here's 6.5.2; added more of the missing colors and Swine are finally (albeit not completely) implemented! 6.6 will be at the end of the month, which should see the new monsters and their events coming closer to completion along with at least a couple neoteny monsters.

6.5.2 Patch Notes

Additions
- New monster type: Swine (color/skin variations not yet implemented), they can be obtained by purchasing an expansion to the Holstaurus Barn
- New Genderbent monster: Cockatiel (skin variations not yet implemented)
- New Color variations and skincolors: Harpies, Mares, Demons, Demonesses
- You may now upgrade various farm buildings to their second tier, unlocking more slots to add expansions
- You can now remove building expansions in order to make room for new ones

Bug Fixes / Balance
- Changed some mechanics consumables for the new monsters (this process is ongoing)
- Seraphs can no longer give birth to other Seraphs: instead any monster fed a Seraph Ichor has a chance of giving birth to a Seraph
- Fluffdragons can now be correctly bred (they can still only be unlocked in-game by using the debug code "addmontype.Fluffdragon")
- The Seraph Cage must now be unlocked through the Marchioness questline, which has been slightly altered
- Fish are now worth money
- Minor bug fixes

Known Issues
- Skincolors for the Elves and Cockatiels have some errors
- Monster descriptions, consumable effects, and game mechanics are unfinished/unimplemented on a number of new monsters
- Some animations have been disabled or are glitchy due to the new overhauls and colors
- Due to the on-going overhaul of the color system, colors are incorrect in a number of pens and animations
- There's been a slight increase in lag from the new color/animation system, which we still need to optimize

  3. I like that you guys are putting so much effort into implementing new stuff... But shouldn't you fix what yoy have already? For example... Despite the many updates when ever the Deliah comes to collect the dept and gives her attitude... Despite the fact that you chose a male character Margo says and I quote "What? Suprised that that the young LADY here has raised enough money?" While not really a big issues it is still and issue and should be relatively easy to fix... Secondly its the same issue with the Marcholess despite the fact I have chosen a male it always gives me a female animation seen... Now I'm a big fan of futa... However I would love to see that (at least for the male option) that you get to "do" her from behind l with a nice decent view of her tits and dick... And that's just to name a few there is more but those 2 are my biggest issue right now... Idk y but still bugs me

    2. Sorry about that! Due to the monster overhaul along with the custom colors and patterns we can only focus on those until they're finished. Once all the monsters are done we'll get right on to Breeder animations!

  4. I'm also disappointed with the lack of updates for the breeder animations. It's been in the "known issues" list for a while now. That's one of the main features of the game and with what you've been releasing its been featured less and less (in particular when you consider that more monsters keep being added). I understand part of the game is about the artwork that goes into the creation of the monsters but the animations should be more of the focus. Otherwise this is just a simple dating sim.

    2. And you would think that after all this statements, some of them would be heard. Apparently having hair/face variants, which could always be added as superficial pack updates long after the game reaches full release status, is more important that creating a fully functional core and expanding from it. Maybe they should fire a few artists and hire someone with project management experience who knows how to actually get things done and not self-gratify to all the pretty color and concept sketches.

    1. No you don't, because if something has to be changed, they have to scrap the animation and redo everything again, like they did twice already, so they have learned from their mistakes.

    3. Right. That excuse makes sense only to people without experience in creative design or project management. A foundation is the skeleton, not the superficial artwork. Their idea of a new version of design stage is "here's a new art model." Unless their coding is complete crap, which it should not be since the whole redesign was intended to create EFFICIENCY (supposedly), then plugging in new races, scriptwise, should be not much more difficult than copying a base template and fleshing out a few configurations for custom data and dimensions. Coding is NOT taking "many hours," or should not be. The same code that cycles hair/face/skin variants is the same for one as the others, or should be. Therefore, ALL of these updates come down to one thing: artists diddling with their color pads and self-gratifying at their creations. Artwork =/= version updates, not alone. They need to start firing team members and redesigning their personal structure: one good artist, one EFFICIENT project manager, one good coder, and two or three temp/support coders. The code foundation should be laid for all quest/race/breeding/statistical progressions with only a single art model for each presentation and bare 3D mannequins/skeletons for any newly added structures/races. Once the game's REAL foundation is laid (not pretty colors), then the visuals can become the new focus: temp coders can gradually be relieved and replaced by temp artists. Anyone trying to say "hair, skin, and cosmetic variants" is essential foundation laying during ALPHA is either a damned fool or a manipulator seeking excuses for stalling.

      This project is being driven by artists and fetishists who are too infatuated with their own pretty designs/concepts. Artists are horrible managers and fetishists are worse, and this project reaffirms both truths. Hire someone with objectivity and a sense of productive reasoning.

  6. Please understand this is intended simply as a question for clarification not any backwards insult or any thing like that. Can you please tell me why it takes so long for a new monster to be added? Also, would it not be easier to add the animations for pre-existing monsters and characters before worrying about adding new monsters? Again, I really don't know the answer and am just looking for enlightenment. I think you guys are doing a great job over all!

First it has to be designed, trying out different forms and features, then it has to be line-arted(?)(cleaned), then it has to be cut, colored, shaded, and then they have to set the pieces back together for animating and coding, then it has to be animated. each of those things can take a day or two. I recommend you check out their stream on Picarto, they are usually on everyday, streaming 12 hours+ sometimes.

  8. Agree with a lot of the other posts. I'm surprised that more new monsters are being added before the animations for the existing ones are complete. Every added monster increases the number of animations exponentially, bring this game further and further away from a fully functional version. I understand that the double edge sword of patreon is that the game doesn't keep getting you money when its finished, but if the current or even reduced version of the game was fully functional and new monsters/events/scenes are added after, it would be more attractive to subscribers and draw more attention. I think the game is great, just trying to offer some constructive comments.

    1. There is a very good reason for it, and that is design revisions, tool updates, and so on. Besides, this will allow them to add animations more frequent later, than if they had to animate each monster as they were added. Its good in the long run, don't be shortsighted ;)

    2. I am not trying to be a downer or shortsighted, just offering a bit of a reference to think about. As of now, there are 11 playable monsters/creatures, each with male/female/young male/young female/futa/young futa possible states. Given the 67 (+1 for breeder) possible unique characters, the number of unique combinations (not counting repetitions) is 2,211. That's a LOT of animations. I know a lot of them will not be made given lack of interest, and at least some of them can be duplicated to make it go quicker (e.g. - harpy v. demon could be essentially the same animation as futa harpy v. demon), but even so, this is a situation where a couple hundred new animations would only be a dent.

      Also, as a reference, lets say you added another creature, lets say Dragon as people have been talking/requesting that. the number of unique creatures then goes to 73, and the number of combinations goes to 2,628, up over 400 combinations for adding just one more creature.

      Since I have the program open already, and to just point out what I was talking about, if the idea was to tackle the existing game as of a month or so ago, with 7 creatures (Harpies, Cats, Horses, Wolves, Cows, Elves, Demons) plus the breeder, the 43 unique creatures would result in 861 possible combinations, just over 1/3 the amount that it has now. Hope this helps, and is not taken as abrasive and overstepping, I'm not trying to tell you how to do your job.

      Looking forward to all the updates, I really do like the game, and will continue supporting it. Also, thanks for the reply, it's nice to see a direct connection between the creators and supporters!

    3. You can't neglect replication because the same monster type can breed with itself so It's actually worse than that.

      # of animations=n^2+4*n where n is the total number of monsters (each gender counts as a monster) not counting the breeders (humans are the real monsters after all). The 4*n accounts for the monster x breeder and monster harvest animations.

      So, if the game were limited to the 8 original and the 4 mega backer monsters that's 12 monsters with only one gender each. That's only 192 animations. That's easily doable within a 2 year time frame if enough animators are hired to make 10 a month which would give the game a 3 year development cycle. Now if you add in a herm gender for the 6 female monsters that doubles to 396 animations. Meaning you'd have to put out 16 animations a month. That's probably doable with a couple more staff animators.

      But... if you make it so each of the 11 base monster types have 6 variations like is the current intention (3 genders and neo versions)... that's 66 monsters total or 4620 animations. To make that many in 2 years means you need to put out 192 animations a month or the equivalent of all the animations in the original scope of the game every month for 2 years. Now that could be doable if the art assets were given out for independent contractors to make the animations. With the current annual revenue of over $500k a year, about $100-150 per animation that is accepted would allow for the purchase of these animations within a year. This is of course assuming that animations are like modules and can be relatively easily added to the game similar to adding slaves to slavemaker 3.

      Ultimately, the project is doable if H-Bomb chooses to go big and start contracting out the actual animations. If he doesn't, there's no way it'll ever get done. So, H needs to decide whether he wants to step up to being the manager of this little dev house or if he wants to scale back the scope of the project and remain a programmer. A third option would be to hire someone like me who has experience dealing with large numbers of independent contractors to manage that aspect of the business.

      I'm fine with any of the three options but I think the customers deserve an official commitment one way or the other.

      equation should be n!/ (2*(n-2)!).

      So... 12 monsters is 110 animations and 66 is 2409.

      I hate it when I do my math wrong. Unfortunately my point still stands and the scope of the project now requires a large number of independent contractors to see it finished

    6. I think the animators are fine as their skill and their numbers. BUT the choises and coding is the problem here. Harista is remaking the code for 9 month and still it has calculation and design bugs. As a feral lover, the choises for feral versions of the monster are mostly wrong. Harpies with bird heads? Harpies are harpies, if you ask me you do not need a feral trait to them. Demons became resident evil creatures, realy? i know you could do better. Catgirls are "wanna be felicia from Dark Stalkers but something goes terribly wrong", why dont you make them just feral wolfes lion/tiger versions?. Wolfs are ok, not happy with their fluffy heads but ok. Horses should be horse., with draft versions. Elfs should stay as elf..

      We lost main concept to furries because of $$$ but please do not take our ferals too..

  11. These past two updates I havent been able to load any of my save files. It'll say "Save files uploaded" but then nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong or is it on the games end?

    2. This took me a while to figure out too, it's not well telegraphed. If you use the 'export to local files', that takes your saves and moves them to your computer. To actually save, click a blank line on the floppy disk, THEN export it to local files to load it again later. Saving and loading are as simple as clicking that space.       Just be sure to export your save files to file before you close the game, then you can import them when you next launch the game, and it /should/ work with the next few updates.

  14. Question: I was holding off on playing content until the in game stats were balanced... For many updates it was in the known-issues section as "don't expect anything balanced"... As the tag has been dropped off the last couple of updates, has this been done? or did HBomb just stop saying it?

    1. Well are you contributing in any way shape or form to the creation of this game? I've followed these guys on patron for a while now and yes they can be slow but if you think about every update that they have put out that's a lot of coding and over hall they have done. Plus they aren't getting the full amount of money owed to them on pattern due to the fact that some people use out of date cc numbers. So all in all I say they're doin one hell of job with this.

      I'm only stating what has been said on Patreon. Before someone screams about it being only $1, some people don't have credit cards, and some banks have actually disallowed international payments, internet transactions, and subscription services. So yeah, can't really do much about that.

  17. I love all the new monsters and touch ups, but it's pretty pointless without the animations. I'd prefer it if you focused on the animations first instead of actual quality game play. I mean try not to forget the core theme of this game is a porn game, and if you remove that aspect it kinda defeats the purpose.

  18. Hmmm even though I have the respective upgrades in the buildings... the game won't let me purchase Swine or Seraphs and put them on my ranch. Says "You do not have enough space for this monster".... Which of course I have the space and the building expansion so not sure what I'm doing wrong here.

    Oh, and I found a wonderful glitch where the game likes to charge me for restocking the monster store... yet never actually restocks it.

    1) Seraphs Ichor effect seems last forever, even the not displayed in the effect box
    2) lv2 to harpy cage graphic overlap lv2 cat house despite being "behind"
    3) Felf and Melf seems bugged that not accept male/female elf as Melf or Felf

  21. I have a problem too. I played the whole Marchioness questline to unlock the Seraph cage, Levi told me he had the blueprints, and that's it. I don't see the expansion, and the game won't let me buy Seraphs. Is this quest bugged or did I do something wrong?

    2. It's a little counter-intuitive. After talking to Levi the Seraph cage becomes another upgrade you can install like a milker or feed box.

      For those looking for the step-by-step:

      After the Marquis visits (on the third day I think?):

      1. Go to the elves' palace
      1.a. click the map icon at the top right
      1.b. click the dark green forest icon
      1.c. click the blue building in the background with the archest
      2. Get the special request from the Marchioness (hey that kinda rhymes!)
      2.a. Click through the dialog until the Marquis asks for the purpose of your visit
      2.b. "The Marchioness wanted to see me?"
      2.c. Keep on clickin' (or skip dialog)
      3. Fulfill the request (may take a while if she asks for traits you can't get yet)
      4. "Deliver" the monster to the Marchioness
      4.a. Go to the elves' palace
      4.b. Click through the 'story'
      4.c. She gives you a new trait and says she'll give Levi the Seraph cage plans (this game is so weird...)
      5. Visit Levi - simply going to town is sufficient.
      6. Purchase the upgrade
      6.a. Go to your farm
      6.b. Click the Harpy cage
      6.c. Click an unused upgrade slot
      6.d. Cycle through the upgrade options
      6.e. The one which you haven't seen before is the Seraph cage. It will be called Seraph Cage in the blueprint area of the dialog
      6.f. You know the rest

      What's the word on a Breeding Season wiki? I see somebody set up http://breedingwiki.com/, but it's currently just a placeholder and it's not open for public edits. There's also http://breeding-season.wikia.com/, but it's not clear whether it has the dev team's blessing. Have the devs said anything on the topic?

    I know you all are working on fixing things up/finishing variants first, so I kinda figured that would be the case.
    I'm just curious if there's a ballpark idea when you all will start back on animations.

    Love watching you all stream, btw. At this point, it's better than the actual game.

    I just thinking of this idea....
    what if ... every time you upgrade farm buildings you get something new for this species for example add a new function.or specific racial traits or new species.
    let use the Holstaurus Barn as an example
    first tier upgrade you get new trait for Holstaurus only
    second tier you unlock Swine
    last tier is new skill for swines only

    you should be able to upgrade your home as well ...
    first tier let you have another human partner to help you to manage the farm
    second tier let you have a threesome
    third tier let you able to order a farm building to do a gangbang

    to be honest its a lot of work i know ... but thinking about this made my head go crazy i know it a lot of work but its a help fun for us as your customers.

The downside, of course, is that I can't actually check the new stuff out because the non-patreon version hasn't been updated in months :( I really hope you will update it soon.

  27. Keep up the excellent work, everyone! Free player here, patiently checking in every week for updates.

    Please consider forking this project into Breeding Season 2 once this game is stable with a few quests and an ending. You'll have the code and basis for expansion, with freedom of a complete game under your belt.

    Seriously. It's time. I love Breeding Season and I respect the work you've all put into it for years. The rest of the internet should share this respect, but they save it for completed games. I don't understand that expectation; regardless the reality makes itself clear.

  29. Posted this in the patreon, but seems like it was overlooked, so reposting here

    Two issues
    First, at higher levels the store takes a long time to restock, it's almost crashed my game twice, though after about 10-15 seconds it has always unfrozen.
    Second, and more importantly, you really need to code in a way to sort monsters into pens, and within pens. If there is a way, I haven't discovered it yet, but it can be really confusing when you delete a monster from your first pen, because then when you breed another monster, they're ordered by pens first, then chronologically, and the new monster gets mixed in to the middle somewhere. It would also be nice to be able to move a monster I like into a specific pen, and keep another pen with throwaway monsters that I have no attachment to.

    Edit: Also nice would be some kind of order to traits, something to make it easier to compare monsters and identify if a trait is missing (Useful when breeding with mutagenic monsters, because you can drop a trait and pick up a trait and still have the same number). In fact, I think it would be kind of cool to have an upgrade you can purchase to the alchemy lab, or perhaps in the guild to allow you to sort traits. Call it 'Advanced identification' or 'gene sequencing' or something.

I know that you probably have a billion and one things on your list of things still to do,but it's bothering me, it would be nice if you could donate funds to the guild (since there's an entire side event to collect donations.) and perhaps if there where certain guild points amount per 1000? or perhaps a side line that after you donate a certain amount (likely comparable to your 'debt' to the empire) the guild started to improve in certain ways or maybe unlocked special kinds of monsters/abilities?

    1. That could tie in to my suggestion above, donate to the guild to unlock breeder training, things like sorting monsters within and between pens, and putting traits in a standard order. Maybe even putting traits in faded red or green if they are lost or new traits, or upgraded traits from their parents.

I just noticed during the quest to unlock alchemy where Levi ask to get a Holstaurus with Nurturing trait well I gave him Holstaurus genderbent with Nurturing .... it felt kinda wrong saying it a she ... where its a he .... maybe make more specific in quest like "Female Holstaurus Nurturing" so it makes more specific

  35. I love this game so much, I just have two suggestions: the first is that there is no real purpose for releasing a monster as donating is better because you get something for donating. It would be cool if the guild wouldn't always be able to accept donations (maybe after donating 6 or 7 monster in a day they stop accepting?) and you would have to release the monster instead.

    The second is just an idea I had for two traits:
    "Run off 1:This monster has a 10% chance to produce a consumable when breeding" with each level increasing the chance by 10%
    "Bitchy: Monsters with this trait won't breed with monsters whose stats are lower than theirs" It would add an interesting element to breeding, but I do realize that it might be a pain to implement ^^"

    Anyway, once again I love the game and plan to start donating next month!

  36. i have little problem with neoteny(loli) trait, its well permanently "inactive" and doesn't "work" (when work, monster stay same "size");
    and i really like to know, where is Futa trait?(was replaced with the genderbend trait?(pls no))

    bdw pleying for few year now (play version 3. a long time ago) and its nice how this gem is growing

    1. In the past I remember seeing juvenile trait and it showed the pictures but no sex scenes. It appears to be gone now. We need the kittens, little harpies, calf, a little demon, a little bitch or a foal(young horse).

      I'm not a huge fan of Futa but I'm sure it has some people who would like to have a full stable of so called females and Futas(if they can breed).

      For Slavemaker I like being the only person with a pair of nuts but this game is very different.

    3. I just downloaded this latest version and I still have a Futa Catgirl and Harpy from the old version I was playing, as well as a few Gender Bend characters. I think they are both there... maybe just not coming up in shop or harder to breed? After getting a Futaurus through breeding a Holstaurus and Futa Harpie, my old save file messed up. I have been trying ever since with multiple Futa Harpies and Catgirls with Holstauri girls and haven't gotten one yet... Guess it's the nature of breeding n_n

  37. When i was fishing i noticed a big circle shadow appearing among the fish, it has a rare appearance but ive managed to make it take the bait.
    I thought it would be a NPC or a new unloced aquatic race but nothings happened, i didnt get anything and the shadow disapeared like usual when you manage to catch the fish (nothings in my inventory either)

    Is it a bug or supposed to happen? ive managed to catch it 3 times so far but the same thing happens every time.
