Dickwolf rework

Greetings, S-Purple here,

We're coming close to finalizing most of the basic animations for catgirl, m.breeder and f.breeder, now comes the task of polishing our last basic vanilla asset- Dickwolf.

Now the ol dickwolf has stuck around with us for a while now and although that doesnt mean he's an untoucheable design, he's one many of us have gotten used to and familliar with; For that reason we've created a poll to measure how appealing the new design is to out fanbase. You can see the comparison between the two-

It should be noted that the dickwolf has barely any animations completed compared to many of our characters, so the extra-work incurred by changing designs will be at a minimum. We've always strived to make the highest quality artwork for every monster, and I would like to ask the help of the community to do so:

  1. Prefer the newer version mostly but the legs on the old one looks more balanced xD

  2. Definitely the old one.
The new one looks basically like a furry wolf; a blue human with a anthropomorphic wolf head stuck on it. The older is at least *somewhat* warewolf'y.

Can we please stop furrify the goddamn game with each update?

    1. Oh look, furries ruined everything. More news at eleven. http://imgur.com/1vYTyoB

    2. Technically both versions are furries :y

    3. Cue "somewhat" in my first post. I know it's not the beast - or rather "feral" as you're keen to call'em - design.
Don't get me wrong, I've yet to see a beast design from you guys (because I can't honestly remember ONE major addition in that regard in the past... year? Year and a half? A long time if ever in any case). I'm sure it will be splendid and come very quickly since the most important fan-bases are already covered, yes.
      Furries catered? Check.
      Fags catered? Check.
Furfags catered? Double check. That stallion/male milking pic is absolutely atrocious btw, but I bet it was a very important content for a very big group of folks.

    4. I think furries and gay people are cool.

    5. This line of reasoning is so ridiculously stupid I actually had to read your comment twice, just in case I missed something (like an ounce of reason).
Honestly, I'm in awe - rarely do one encounters a brilliant mind able to spew such convoluted, trite bullshit.
I won't even bother refuting you, I'll just point and laugh.

    6. @Vanillycake: Yeahhh, and I'm personally comfortable with furfaggotry, but this is edging closer to that weird sparkledog OC area. It also feels a bit samey, since pretty much every other muscular male monster has that build and pose.

I guess there's no point in saying so, since it looks like the new one's going to win regardless.

    7. I googled sparkledogs, and I don't see the connection, especially since they all seem to be quadrupeds with very little anthropomorphism.

  3. I like the level of detail on the new one, but I prefer the hunched over posture of the first since it helps create some variety (the demons and stallions already have that generic standing pose) Since the vote seems to already be skewed for new version, I'm hoping the feral version will be more hunched over/beastial

    1. I also dislike the fact that every male monster has the same posture now. They are basically all just humans with monsterheads. Feral Version will be a normal wolf judging from the preview, so no in betweens.

I just hope they won't use this posture in any of the animations. Dickwolf has to be the more primitive one. Especially since Stallions and Demons have basically already the same nature.

    2. Anon makes a really good argument. Even though I didn't care for in-between design (the old one) as much as the more humanoid one, more variety is better, and the demons are already super hot muscular humanoids, and the stallions are slightly less humanoid. I'd be just fine with non-feral DWs being "primitive" like the old design, especially since I'm more focused on the ferals anyway.

    3. Actually I've seen the feral D-wolf its a straight up 100% four legged wolf the same go's for the B-stallion looks like a normal horse and most likely the same go's for the Swine now as for female feral's from what I've seen there 50% pretty much anthropomorphic.

      Delete
    4. I was expecting something Centaur like for the feral Stallions. What's the point of making all the ferals into normal animals? They are supposed to be monsters after all.

      Delete
    5. That wouldn't be making them into anything, really, since that's how they were in the original game, before Hartista started working with S-Purple.

    6. @Anon there is a point it keeps the bestiality fans happy originally that's what they looked like and the furry's get the females but there still monsters both sides get something instead of one side being favored over the other.

  4. I like it better than the old half-feral version, I think. I prefer either fully feral or not-to-monstrous, personally.

    1. I think that's what they'll do is make feral males 100% animals while females are 50% feral anthropomorphic that way both sides get something but that's how I see it anyways.

  5. love the details but as some already said, it just doesnt look mean enough. It looks way too cutie-fluffy and the stance is too humanlike aswell. New details with old stance and more mean looking would be the best mix.

  6. the new one looks better and it matches werewolf lore

    ReplyDelete
  7. Beautiful, but... The new version is more like a dog than a wolf

    ReplyDelete
  8. could we not have both stances as like colour/hair/face variations, animations don't need to change just more of a cosmetic thing

  9. it would probably help if nose mouth was different like more teeth or something

  10. I don't mind either design, and I'm not dramatically fond of either of them; they're both anthro-style forms in a game that first advertised itself on bestiality.

With that in mind, I suspect that part of the push is one part the useful desire to create default body-forms similar enough to allow them some animation recycling and reduce work-load, and at least one more part to do with the artists natural style inclinations. Their personal art tastes do seem to be almost completely polar opposite to the sorts of things that I enjoy, and their tastes and preferences are and have been bleeding through the entire game's art assets for quite a while now, with very little to stem that, but it is what it is, and I'm sure there are lots who -do- like it out there somewhere. I don't, but I'm just one person.

With all that in mind, When I play the game, it will be for and with -feral- creatures, and ideally ONLY ferals (or only Male Ferals if I can), so it's my hope that I'll be able to wrangle a play option that means I can enjoy the content I like and not be bothered with that I don't care for.

This is an important thing to me, personally, and as such the choice here doesn't matter to me overly much, since I don't wish to play with either. To that end, I'm personally abstaining from the vote, since it wouldn't be a fair thing for me to weigh in on a matter which others care about, but which I do not.

    1. I'm not so indifferent on the more humanoid "monsters", but I agree that I really miss the old dickwolves that were really wolf-like. I thought I saw a concept for that at one point? I do think you must be right about a focus on reusable art having something to do with them having loads of humanoids and no ferals.

  11. VanillyCake will this vote at all effect the long awaited breeder harvest and breeding animations for the female and male breeder be pushed back further since your going to have to redo dickwolf animations entirely?

  12. All I can say is, get some animations for it, and then we'll talk lol

  14. Hard to say. On one hand, I like how floofy the new dickwolf looks, and in the case of these two specific designs I Think I like the new better. However, this also represents a further departure from the original concept of having males be rather feral. The new dickwolf is pretty close to generic furry material. I know you claim that the feral versions of everybody is still somewhere on the list of things to do, but I don't know. If nothing else I think I'd like to keep the old were-wolf dickwolf for the sake of variety because we've already got the overly-buff, off-human demons and the overly-buff, off-human buttstallions; do we really need barely-not-overly-buff, off-human dickwolves as well?

    ReplyDelete
  15. I would keep both. Use the old, bulkier one for wild dickwolves and then use the new one for the store bought ones. That way, there is more variation between the creatures and you can keep all of the old animations that only play with the wild ones. Anyone else think that's a good idea?

  16. I agree with many of the above comments in that the species in-game are very humanlike; the demons are basically tall blue guys with tails, the stallions are similarly close to large males with horse heads so emotionless that they may as well have been chess pieces. Elves, holstaurus.. the only things close to "monsters" anymore are the harpies. The lower stance of the old dickwolves did need an art update, but their forward, slouching posture gave them a more eager, primal feel. I do love the new drawing style; it's clear and crisp, and the shading is wonderful. But please, for those of us who were thrilled to see this game take off with a sort of crazy hentai "Monster Rancher" feel, please consider taking some of the "monsters" back to their roots. A lot of the interest in monsters is just that; they're inhuman beasts, exciting in their innate power and wild lust. That's why they needed taming in the first place, right? Anyway, great job on the updates and such. I'll continue to follow along and we'll see where this goes.

    1. couldnt agree more, that was actually the fact that woke my interest in this game the first place. The Beast aspect, now update after update the beasts turn into furries... and that is really not what i was interested in and i am sure so werent alot of others. We love the new style and crisp art but please bring back the beasts.

  21. Old one has has a more bestial appearal.

  22. I love your game, but it need more gay animations. Please, can you put more gay content? If you do that I promise i will be a future patreon on your amazing and exciting project.

ps: maybe you can ad a new race, apemans. XD

  23. As one who played from the earlier days, I still hold some preference to the original that was more just a wolf.

However, with the direction the Dickwolf has more or less seemed to be taken as well as the other monsters, I put my vote in for the new dickwolf, it feels like a better fit with the changes, and honestly, I've never liked what the poll has as the "old" design. I think because it was too close to the middle ground of humanoid and beast but leaned a little more beast. It just seemed sorta out of place.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I chose the old design. It was better; more bestial and very were-wolf in feel. It just needs an update as far as having that attention to detail fixed. And some minor tweaks like having its muscle proportions balanced out a little bit to make it more realistic. But the straps around the legs and crotch, bigger head and jaws, and the hunched posture really helped make it seem like a beast versus this more humanoid appearance. It fit with the idea of breeding monsters. The new one is nice, believe me, I like it. But I think the new design would be better as a npc. One you can come across which is an intelligent dickwolf. Maybe he can even speak.

  25. Honestly, I've been annoyed at how many monster "idle" poses lost their erections in the reworks. Glad to see the Dickwolf recover his namesake!
