Hey guys, just an update on my streaming schedule: for now I'm going to be streaming work every Tues-Fri starting at 1:00 PM CST (with special streams leading up to release days). My schedule will probably shift around a lot week-to-week, but I'll make blog posts updating when I'll be streaming.
Also, worth repeating that you can catch Vanilly (usually streaming along with S and Fleet) every weekday at 3:00 PM CST.

DeleteProblem is, the author promised to make this project a full-time job with all the funds he raised. A full-time job is anything from 8-12+ hours a day, with work on weekend days and even holidays if the workload demands it.
So who wants to take a bet that this will cover a 50+ hours job per week?

A 'full time job' legally speaking, is seven hours of on-clock work each weekday, and nothing more. Not saying that that is what's going into it, but you're not doing yourself or your case and favours by so dramatically over-exaggerating the hours it 'should' be.

Fourth anon down, the original commenter might have had a valid point, but it lost its credence when it was delivered in the form of a derogatory insult. A valid point might have been to say that, given past records, the chances of H-Bomb managing to successfully stick to his projected plan are not the greatest. All other matters aside he has often made an initial effort to do something in the way of more disclosure or more exposition, as the community wants, but in most cases a strong start on doing so end sup falling away and flagging after a little while.
Personally, I'm hoping that the streaming attempt will actually be a medium of communication that he'll manage to keep up more reliably, since it's not actually an 'extra task' of any sort outside of working, it's simply rolling the camera while he does work. H, ideally, if you are working, switch the stream on... that way if you are doing a reasonably dedicated amount of work, everyone will be able to see the proof of it, even if code-tinkering isn't the most scintillating thing to watch. I don't pretend it'll quiet all the trolls, but it would certainly appease the more reasonable ones.

What you call "not the greatest" and "may need more disclosure" i call a simple lie, which it technically is. Maybe not in single cases but in this accumulated form there is no other word for it. How is constantly trivialising what is happening here going to be any help at all?
You can hope for more reliability as much as you want,i do too, but i believe it when i see it and until then im dealing with someone that has proven untrustworthy to the point where i feel actively betrayed.
I also don't think you do the people justice by calling them trolls. I fail to see any actual troll here. Just people that have enough reason to get mad, mock the author and/or point out things that obviously go wrong because getting lied to like 5+ times in a row is just a personal insult, especially if it is people financing you.

People who give money, give it freely and of their own volition, at base because they choose to -donate- their funds, as -patrons- to an artist, to help support them, and thus leave them free to pursue their artistic endeavor at their leisure. That is what patronage IS. It is NOT a contrast, it is NOT an obligation, it is NOT any form of owing between the supported artist and the patron. If the patron does not wish to give their money to support a particular artist any more, then they stop. That is ALL there is to it. A lot of people here seem to fundamentally misunderstand the concept of patronage, and thing that they have some sort of right, influence or are in some way owed something, because they gave money. They aren't, and they don't. They are Patrons, NOT investors. So yes, you can get mad if you want... but you don't have any RIGHT to, and getting mad at the artist shows that you misunderstood the concept of patronage when you chose to give your money.

DeleteIf your question is about whether or not we're working, I work around an average of 38-40 hours a week on breeding season (3PM CST when the stream starts and I end around 11-12). I have insomnia so I chose 3PM because I know I'll be fully up and awake by then. I'm the only one who takes weekends off so I don't burn out. If you have any pressing questions you absolutely must have answered please feel free to stop by the stream and send a whisper. The stream highlights the entire comment in red and it's easier to notice!

Actually... yes, it does. What justification have you for getting mad at an artist working at their own pace? do they owe you anything? No. Do you have contract with them for delivery of anything? No. This artist frequently says one thing and offers less... but what is that to you? Why does that give you, an unrelated person, any justification for anger or insult? What entitlement do you posses that legitimately gives you any justification at all for anger. you interpret the consonance between what he says and what occurs as being "Him lying to you", but that's a subjective reading of the situation that is -entirely- on you. That is -your- problem, not his.
In short, the only people who have any genuine justification for complaint are those individuals who specifically gave money for specific things, and only then, if they were given promises regarding those things which were not delivered on. Anyone else is simply a patron of the arts, and this artist owes them nothing, which in turn gives them no grounds or justification for complaint.
What you CAN do as a patron of the arts, is offer comments and critiques about what is or isn't being produced, offer your opinion on what sorts of things should be focused on, or who you personally received various aspects of the work; comments about the sorts of things you feel would improve, and the sorts of things you feel detract. you have every right and perfect grounds for offering your opinions on what you think would help or make things better, faster, smoother.
However, the moment you stray from that into entitled demands about what he should or shouldn't be doing, and how fast he should or shouldn't be doing it... rants about what he owes you, or what he promised you, or how he has somehow betrayed or lied to you, like that means anything of significance, when it does not... Then, yes, you are a troll, and would serve everyone better by removing your fingers from the keyboard.

ReplyDeleteJesus, am I on a YouTube comment page? I can understand both sides of the argument but damn, some people take it too far. I can understand why are upset about broken promises, long delays, being kinda left in the dark. I honestly haven't bothered downloading any of the updates since the first update of the rework because I see what is going on based on the updates. Personally, I am patient because I have donated kickstarters, indiegogos, and been a patreon for sometime. However, I know some want steady updates and a playable game and I gotta fault HBomb on this one because he sets public release dates and goals and seem to fall through.

There are a few anons that are taking their anger to the point of being vindictive. Almost every post by HBomb is met by a couple anons saying something negative instead of constructive criticism and everytime someone calls them out, they always been up the broken promises, and missed dates. There is even a comment I saw where someone wanted HBomb thrown off his own project. As stated before, I can understand being upset, but come on now, this is getting ridiculous.

I could definitely understand your point of view if we were dealing with single incidents but the sheer number of incidents is what really grinds all the so called "trolls" gears. We are at a point where you can not believe any word Hartista says, nothing holds up. I also could do something else with my time, but i chose not to, because i still hope to not have been scammed for over half a year but time and time again im disappointed. But maybe you are right, lets move on, all hope is lost.

I mean if there were some forward/back big arrows that would let us chose certain loop scenes instead of automatic scene changing after few seconds. Hmmm, that could be a possibility! As for the animations that don't have the jizzing, those were made before I was tasked with bringing them back in. I'll definitely update them with endings though!

This response answers directly to most of the comments directed at me in this thread, and contains a deal of discussion relating to perception, obligation, duty of good faith, and a deal of philosophic on entitlement and betrayal. Feel free to tl;dr: I doubt it'll be read by most anyway, but, on the off chance that some might, and may end up changing their view as a result, here it is (broken in two, for character count):

March 3 5:59: Poster audibly states feelings of *betrayal*, because this project has not done what it said it would, by the time it said it would. Feeling betrayed requires feeling entitled to something which was withheld or removed... and they have no grounds for that sense of entitlement.
Most detractors seem to be busy interpreting the actions of the artist at a personal level; taking the disparity between what is projected and what occurs as personal betrayals, lies and broken promises. To take them at such a level is to express the conviction that you, as an individual, are entitled not only to be able to hold this artist to their projections, but also that you are entitled to the fruits of those projections automatically, in away that makes their non-delivery a wrong against you.
Nobody here is entitled in that manner. Nobody here has any right at all to feel entitled to that in that manner. Yet most seem to, and this is where most of the anger and rage seems to stem from. Your anger is not righteous, it is not justified; it is not even rational, and in fact it hinges entirely upon feeling like you are entitled to something which you are not.
A caveat; there are those who, rather, are angry simply because they have a great deal of personal emotional investment in this project, and want desperately to see it progress. As a result of that personal emotional investment, slow progression or less progression than they were hoping for, hurts, and disappoints. Anger and frustration that stems from this cause is far more understandable, and I can certainly empathise, however, it grants no more justification for being angry directly at the artist, or flinging slander their way, than the other group.
The thing about lying... it's an intrinsically personal thing, and an individual must place a certain level of emotional investment into the words being said, and then failed upon, to even perceive it as a lie in the first place. Take the mad-man who stands on the corner crying doom. When he declares that the sun will burn out tomorrow and the black shadows of the earth will slip up and devour all those who continue wearing clothes... and then, lo and behold, tomorrow goes about as normally as most... no-one would say that he lied to them. No-one had the emotional investment in his words required to treat them as a lie, and so it was not.
So if you feel that H has lied to you... that's YOUR problem, not his. I don't feel as though he has lied to me: I feel as though he has consistently failed to meet his own projections, but I don't feel wronged or betrayed or lied to, in any way whatsoever... and since I started supporting, I've given a total figure that adds to triple digits, by this point. I choose to give that, though. It's patronage. I'm not -owed- ANYTHING.

Namely, elected officials -are- under obligation, and by that, they do owe the people they represent certain things. There is obligation involved with elected officials. There is no obligation involved here. If you cannot see that distinction, or if you feel that H has the same level of obligation to you as an elected official does, then that right there is the major problem with your perception of the world and your entitlements within it, and that's a magnitude of ground that we couldn't hope to cover in the course of a discussion here in this thread.
If that's still you at 1:15, then no; the argument for lack of obligation or entitlement doesn't apply to the other things you listed, at all.
Political matters all carry weight of obligation to their people, and as a result broken promises or reversed policies do carry weight; as elected officials, the people under them are, quite literally, entitled to the good faith that they will act as they promised to to earn their appointment.
Legal, Judicial, Scholastic and Governmental people and positions ALL bear weight of obligation and duty as well. The people over whom they preside are entitled to good faith. The voluntary patrons of an artist are not.

Most of the facts listed are, indeed, facts. H has made many projections, then failed to live up to them. Not arguing that at all. Some of the facts are incorrect, or misinformed.. for example, it's been covered that the funding we see displayed is far more than they actually end up getting, all up, by a significant amount. Other full-time staff -have- been hired. However, most of the other facts are correct.
What's subjective is what people then do with them when they start foaming at the mouth and flinging vulgarities about. When people use the fact that we've had very little visual progress in months to extrapolate into the assumption that H has been doing nothing of value and stealing money, and then begin hurling insult and haranguing people to that end... that's subjective opinion.
When people see H say that something will be done by a certain time, and then it isn't, and they receive that fact as them being lied to and betrayed, THAT is subjective. They took it as them being lied to... but it is in no way a 'fact' that they were.
Anyhow, I'm fine on empathy, don't you worry about that... though given the life I've had so far most people I know would forgive me if I wasn't... Sure, people get angry when they are lied to. The problem rests in people perceiving the disparity of projections and actual delivery, of an artist on the internet, whom they may or may not choose voluntarily to support.. as lies, or betrayals. That's subjective, and objectively speaking, they aren't. If you feel they are, then you are holding a sense that you are entitled to both good faith, and to delivery of product. You aren't. None of us are. We'd like it, and some of us choose to support in the hopes of it, but we are not entitled to it. We are not owed it. Therefore we have not been lied to, or betrayed. We have observed a disparity, nothing more.

If his pace results in his patronage drying up, and thus leads to a requisite cut in the time he can devote to his art, in favour of needing to care for his own needs, then so be it. There is no obligation in either direction.
These days, artists rarely have traditional patrons, in 'real life'. They have commissions, and commissioners. Those are very, very different things... the most notable difference being that in that relationship, there IS obligation and duty. In the case of more traditional art patronage, as used to happen more frequently a rather long time ago, yes, wealthy patrons tended to get agitated if the artist they were supporting didn't produce anything... however, in those cases, one of two things happened: if the artist was sufficiently famous and skilled, the patron bit their tongue and waiting on their leisure. If the artist was not deemed so by the patron, then they cut them off and kicked them out, end of story.
By the by, I'd thank you please to leave off with the ad hominem. I don't appreciate it, so, politely, please stop.
