Seriously, I'm really liking the redraws, though. The new style is very nice and expressive, and a lot of the designs look a lot more coherent. Really looking forward to Bailey being implemented.

DeleteFunny thing is, the more vocal the detractors become, the clearer it gets that the overwhelming majority of the negativity dogging this project is coming from, at very most, three distinct voices. Three. Out of many thousands of backers, 19 of every 20 negative or hateful comments are coming from one of only three individuals. Hopefully the above ~50 posts will get purged. When they are, let it be noted that they were 50 odd posts of a single person spam-posting pointless insults and mockery, because if they get deleted you just know that it will cause a second wave of hate complaining about censorship and deleting any posts that disagree with him.
ReplyDeleteThough I admit I always get a chuckle whenever someone doesn't realize it's the same person. At this point, though, I'm pretty sure this is just a rather disappointing attempt at getting the comments section closed entirely, more than anything.

I suspect that the very small handful of vocal detractors were so infuriated by the disabling of anon comments, and the way it would require them to post identifiably as the same person, or else expend a lot of extra effort to pretend to be many more, that they 'feel' censored, and so, being the mature individuals that they clearly are, are going to attempt to spam post as badly as they can to drown out anyone else and stop the comments from being used at all. Would not surprise me in the slightest.
DeleteWhat's really funny is that, if they wanted to prove their point; to prove that they weren't the only one(s) complaining, all they would need to do would be to take their hands off the keys and remain silent for a month: if the level of discontent being vocalised remained consistent, then their point would be proved.
I admit, there's a lot of things that I feel need attention before others, and things that I'm less than pleased about, overall... but at least when I'm critical I can still do so in a constructive and supportive way...
I think they just got purged big time but yeah its really pathetic at this point if this is their mission in life to troll and spam then something is horrible wrong with them.

DeleteBecause I am begin polite and calm about it, I'm not insulting anyone or being rude, and in general I'm capable of holding a rational and constructive conversation. The same cannot be said about the vast majority of posts that were purged.
DeleteFurthermore, because showing one's support is not a negative or harmful thing, so, given that it is not being done in excess or to the drowning of others, there's no reason to stop. Further also, I'm not trying to claim that everyone loves and supports the artist, however, the number of patrons seems to indicate that a great many do.
There are plenty of points where I've been critical of aspects, or of thins that have or haven't been done. I'm not a rabid supporter of the artist, or fan-girl. I've stated plenty of criticism, but I've also stated the things I've liked or enjoyed, listed my general support, and I do -BOTH- things in a calm and constructive way, and in an attempt to be helpful if I can.
I don't over-state, I try not to exaggerate, I don't insult, belittle or mock people, and I don't call them names.
If the individual responsible for the vast majority of posts that got pruned, or one of the very few regular vocal detractors to this project, is reading (because I will not assume automatically that you are they) then I feel justified in saying that those features are where they and I differ, and they are why my comments remain, and theirs do not.

ReplyDeleteNot sure how I feel about the redraws, honestly. The isn't too much difference, for me personally. I didn't mind the bolder lines, certainly, but I can also see the appeal of the new appearances. The reality, for me, is that the unrealistically over-sized breasts on the majority of characters throws me off quite pronouncedly... at a personal level, I really don't care for it, so I notice the way that that particular kink is pushed into almost everything, except in the places where it's specifically not meant to be.
I would like it much more if there were a healthy number of characters with 'normal', moderately realistic breast sizes, and a proportionally balanced side dose both of characters with the greatly inflated and over-sized breasts, on characters they fit for, even though it's not my cup of tea, and also of characters with much lighter than average chests, rather. I would prefer to see more balance in these things because I don't feel that one person's personal taste should dominate the breadth of a project.
As a small-breasted woman, I'm probably biased in my feelings of bigger /= better, and I suspect it's why I notice the unrealistic sizes of the majority of female npcs... But it is just a personal thing, and so long as the monsters themselves remain a representative spread, it won't bother me much.

IRL I tend towards smaller breasts (at least, what the internet might consider smaller), though I can appreciate a larger pair up to a point. It does seem that in most projects like this we tend to see either huge breasts or practically flat chests with little variance in between.
Give us a more evenly spread spectrum of breasts on our NPCs! A breastbow, if you will.
I mean, I'll continue to support the project either way, as I have since its inception, but it'd be nice to have. :P
Weirdly, I'm also a smallish-breasted woman, and I feel the opposite way sometimes and the same way sometimes. Big sis has bigger and, I think, quite a lot better breasts, and I'll admit here where no one knows me that I frankly envy her tits. I know about the weight and all that, but since I've never had to deal with it, I'm free to imagine that bigger breasts feel just the same, but with some pleasant extra substance. Or maybe that's all me justifying the weird things I've come to fancy since I ventured into the more extreme corners of erotica? All I really know is that I have little ones (at least they seem little) and I like really big ones.

DeleteI know in most of manga/anime/hentai they work mostly with extremes, flat/HUGE, but it still feel somewhat strange.
Maybe some NPCs with the "average" size, although said average change from place to place, would be good for the game.
Don't make the "average" IRL the biggest population in game, but at least fill in some of that gap. So ppl who only like medium sized chests could have their waifu too.
S purple himself is a well known lover of ludicrous sized breasts, so that might give an inkling in to why things are the way they are. He's even said on his blog he doesn't like drawing smaller ones. Our only hope is to get some large patron donors that share this mindset.. because they also directly decide this.
DeleteI have to say I'm also quite sad that so many of the characters are massively oversized in the chest. I am a guy that loves the CrossFit community, but a common thing to find there are women desperate to "fix" the decreased size you get when physically fit. I try very hard to tell them that not only are there significant health issues with surgery, problems with size late in life, and not to mention the minor detail that the bigger they are... the faster they sag, but above all that - there are men that genuinely think a B cup is beautiful.
DeleteNow, obviously, this is a fetish game and the artist (along with a frustrating majority of people) believe bigger is better, and when there's no risks, why not just shoot for the moon (or in this case, floor)? Still frustrating, though, since they are such a turn off for me.
Well, it is what it is. And who knows, sometime down the line when all the systems are in place and the primary art is complete, perhaps we'll see more options appear to scale them. Or a new artist will join and work on half the stuff that prefers handfuls, rather than pillows.
Don't worry there will be plenty of regular to smaller breasted NPC's! These are the only ones we've fixed up since they take a little while, and also they're the first to appear. (•̀á´—•́)Ùˆ ̑̑

DeleteAlthough I am happy with the new designs; as someone who enjoys a bit of variety in adult games (you should see my roster in AA2 XP) I am very happy to hear this from you, Vanilly. I figured this was only the first batch of NPC's, with the game still in early development, and was hopping for a more diverse cast both female and male as it went along.
DeleteIf i could offer a few critiques; while I am happy with the overall physical appearance of Cordelia, she does feel a little less scientist and more glam-rock/pop-star now. That may have been intentional as a part of her design; just making an observation. Also, Margo's proportions just look off to me, you know, like her torso's just a bit too long and her hips a bit to wide for someone of her stature; but maybe that's just me.
Anyways, loving all the updates that we've been getting and I really enjoy the streams when I can make it in. You guys are doing great.

ReplyDeleteIt is such a pity you're getting rid of the rough edges in the artwork. While the thinner lines and more defined proportions may look more 'professional', it's also leaving behind that which gave it the most personality. The old style was robust and oozed character. I was excited when the first art revamp came about; the redraws were grungy and dynamic and were a great deal different from generic anime. With the latest refinements, while they may read better on thumbnail, you seem to want to rejoin the generic anime market. It is understandable, ofcourse; I just find it a pity you're doing away with so much raw quality in the work, and replacing it with (too much) polish.

ReplyDeleteI really like the touched up drawings too. They have more personality and generally feel more polished. Though I do see at least a few breasts and thighs have grown yet again... Do keep them from becoming the only thing we see, please?
I see that "tits larger than their heads" size breasts are now universal for all characters besides Margo (who is now as flat as a ironing board, oddly, rather than having the vague hint of some breasts she used to) and the child-lookalike consumable shop owner, whose name escapes me at this late hour. And that every one of the minor improvements also increased bust/ass size (again). While the new artwork -is- great, and fancy, the shifting image of characters is..well, distasteful. With all the screwing these people do, you'd think they would be more in shape and trim. I can understand that people think tits and ass are sexy, but there is too much of a good thing. At the current point, unless this is a low-grav world, doing more than slowly walking would be torture. Yeah, yeah, I know, realism in a hentai game isn't a thin. But think of it this way. How would you guys feel about a male protagonist having balls the size of grapefruits and a wang bigger than his forearm, always near-overflowing from his overly-tight pants? Not a pleasant picture (for many of you, at least).
ReplyDeleteI agree with a lot of the other comments in a way. The huge boobs are a little bit of a turn off for me, but what bothers me more is that Margo went from an A cup (making her the most realistic of all the characters in my eyes) to being entirely 100% flat.

Are you saying the Marchioness has totally average boobs, or that she is a good candidate for being given average boobs? I can't say I agree with either one, because she has huge breasts, and I think her current chest is perfect for her. I do agree with the sentiment in general, though.
