Hey, still working away on the new release: it'll be ready in about 4 or so more hours. I'm afraid to say that the save function still won't be working yet, but it will be going into the New Years update at the end of this month (and, following that, saves will finally transfer for every version going forward). Tonight Patrons will be getting new traits as well as the new event system and our special Christmas event, including work from our newest animator who I'm looking forward to introducing formally. It won't have all of the old events ported over yet, but it should at least be something fun for ya'll to enjoy.
For now I'm going to put up the demo build that Patrons got access to a little while ago; it's not a playable version of the game but it's something for free players to mess around with at least to see some of the changes that are coming in the new build. Once New Years comes, I'll be putting up the build I released to Patrons earlier this month, so you'll be getting something more substantial soon.

I was just reading the comments section on the last progress update (such a cesspool) and quietly wondering when the new release would show up Then I went to the main page, and hello! It's there now. Just as I get home and have some time for the fappin.

ReplyDeleteI hope some of the beach scenes are still in. Getting mermaid jetsam and the treasure chest helps in the beginning. The pink pearl not so much, since if you get a visit from the alarune, she will consume it instead of being able to reuse it.

Okay, how about this. YOU try developing a game, and once its almost ready YOU get to rewrite the entire coding for the game to make it better for YOUR consumers. Now, on top of that, run a blog where you have people constantly criticizing you for not making YOUR game fast enough. Oh, and have fun finding and hiring people to help with the artwork and animations and story-line. This shit is not easy, don't come in here, criticize a game you know absolutely nothing about, read a blog and say the creator is bad at this. You are not making this game, H-bomb is. Also it's the holidays which can't make it any easier. The only people who have even the slightest right to criticize are the patreons, which ironically are the only people who aren't.

You know what before you even suggested that- I was thinking about it. I'm animator and coder myself and I know how long such a project would take and I had this wicked thought why not put this dev to their place,
So yeah I'm gonna develop my own game and you know what? It's gonna be free; You know why? DeleteCalm down mate. The problem is not the time, it's the constant deadline breaking. We have been told that we would get a new working version days ago and he still hasn't released it yet. If he didn't give us such short deadlines, it would have been fine. Instead of saying that we would get it today, if he said we would get it next week and than released it 2 days before the deadline, everyone would be happier. He's creating expectations that he often can deal with.

DeleteOne doesn't need to pay to have a valid criticism, this game used to be free and technically still is -- I'm sure you didn't go around telling people back then that they couldn't critique the game because they didn't pay for it... Patreon is a platform for donations and support, nothing else.

DeleteYou might consider "pausing" your patronage and checking out the game when it's further along, and if you still feel like it then continue your patronage. It's up to you! This is just kinda sad in general...

I gotta say I think your expectations are too high, guys, but I don't want to make an argument bigger. I think it's a fair point about meeting deadlines when they're given, but it's the holidays. H-Bomb isn't a professional, just some guy that knew some programming (assuming/I haven't been here from the beginning) and wanted to make a breeding game. He's learning and getting better, and we're certainly getting progress. We even have a new artist/animator who is freaking adorable. This was my expectation, and I'm happy to give a dollar for the progress so far.

I know that he isn't a professional, but this isn't the first time this has happened... it would be more accurate to say the 20th or 30th if you count everything together (and it wasn't holidays then for most of the time)? At some point there should stick something about having to manage one's schedule properly -- and while I know that quantity and quality of the product doesn't scale with the amount of money that is thrown his way, I'd think that for 25k$ a month he could at least learn to manage his time properly or not give out nonsensical deadlines (although I suspect the former is the real problem).
DeleteAnd of course I agree, seeing progress is always nice and having even more animators too -- that's exactly what I'd be willing to pay/donate money for; but that's the exception not the rule. (Oh and there was no argument there, this was actually a surprisingly calm discussion).

2. This crashes when trying to mate certain monsters
3. Sometimes it shows a random animation and not one of the monsters you chose
4. You cant do anything in the city
5. You cant go anywhere on the map
6. This is essentially the game we already have with a new breeding menu
So in the end I understand this is a lot of work but don't promise us something that:
A. we don't get on time
B. is less than we already have
and C. is insanely broken
I sum this up pretty good? I think so
hello i was just wondering if hbomb is planning on putting up a more stable version, i checked the old logs, but i didn't find a post about 5.4 becoming stable. in the update right after 5.4.2 release he said he was just a little bit away from re-stabilizing it.

Sup as far as i can tell even the latest 5.5.2 version isn´t up to the point 5.3 was moust of the animations aren´t integraded map features are still down and so on, get the feeling this is a brand new game so i´m guessing we´ll be getting the real deal only on versions 5.7 or .8 maybe for public release mid summer or something (august???) and here´s hoping version 6 is the final one, don´t know what else to say i love this game and i´d really love to play it

Deletei do agree that he hasnt kept to his schedule very well, but you cant forget that the patrons are funding the operation, otherwise we'd be still stuck with the OLD figures(needless to say he tried, but failed with those). but at least he is loading some balanced versions for the public.
