The request system is in; the requests you'll get from the NPCs are just placeholder for now, but they'll be a bit more fleshed out and interesting once I get a chance to implement them all. You have a random chance to get a new request every day.
Note that pretty much all the numbers, from the XP required to level to the level requirements on the requests to the way that stats affect XP, etc, has not been balanced yet whatsoever, so don't worry; these values aren't indicative of how I intend to balance things ultimately, they're just values I stuck in to get the build working.
There's also an extra treat for you guys in that I've finally managed to get the new catgirl hairs/faces into the game, and I have to say they are adorable and some of my favorite stuff S has made yet. They're not totally integrated for all the catgirl animations yet, but I wanted to at least get them in for the idle and for dickwolf/catgirl.
Thanks for the release H-Bomb, looking forward to playing it and hopefully I will have constructive criticism for you once I shift through the game itself. Keep up the good work.

ReplyDeleteRan into an interesting bug, a monster birthed twins, but when I used one of them to mate with another monster, the other twin also got it's sex stam down, it also took up two spaces in the cathouse. I was able to still sell the catgirl and other "twin" entity that was with it was kept as an extra copy, I could still do all the normal actions with it. I am pretty sure this might be an instance where the breeding result being called twice somehow. Hope this helps a bit.

This sounds more like a fun feature where you can end up with litters that level up together... unless its a case of the coding "rolling" for pregnancy with multiple numbers instead of just a percentage base and the coding is getting like... criticals on each roll
DeleteI actually already know what's causing this bug and how to solve it but I just didn't fix it yet. When you get a new monster from breeding, once you have the naming window open, you can just keep hitting the "Keep" button to open more naming windows and you'll get a duplicate reference in your pen for every time you do it. I just gotta disable the button after you hit it once.

However, if one cannot provide money to the team, or will not, i don't think there is really a whole lot of room for complaint, a lot of times, patrons do get teasers long before non-patrons can even have a hope of getting the new game. it's not all sunshine and roses, your more likely to deal with bugs, have to wait longer for large fully playable updates, and there tends to be more anticipation just because you are supposed to get things sooner.

Sorry, but I don't believe that us non-Patreon supporters should get the build immediately. Yeah it sucks to have to wait months for an update and I'm not happy that it took too long, but hey that's life. The fact remains that H-bomb doesn't owe anything to the people who aren't paying for development. The only people owed anything are the Patreons. The rest of us are getting the game FOR FREE. We are not entitled to receive something for free, especially something that other people are paying for. Sure no one forced them to pay for the game; however, they were promised something for that payment and that promise should be honored whether or not it sucks for those of us not paying.

Non-Patrons see that a new version, i.e. 5.5.1, just came out and they expect we're getting our rocks off on brand spanking new content, fully loaded out the ass, when we're just bug testing- this isn't up to 5.3 yet, it has been revamped down to a year ago's standard, we're trying to help the team get back to it's point.(I won't lie though, we did get new catgirl stuff this update.)
$1 Patrons tend to not get a whole lot of teasers, we didn't get Kay's Bottle Catch (although I understand why, $10 is a bit more money to shell out then $1), all we got were demos of the new menus. Again, testing. The best idea right now, is to be patient and let them work their magic.
@Anon 2:58, you're getting a product a lot of people paid for, for free. It get's delayed-- WHO CARES?! There's no need to make yourself feel more important by saying "I should get this because I'm special." Patrons are special, even if they pay only a single dollar, and you wanna know why? DeleteI found funny bug in new build. When u breed catgirl x catgirl one of them have red forehead , its funny because they look like they are wearing a wig also new catgirls are super cute and puffy :3 but there's one that doesn't look too good. Overall very nice release.

ReplyDeleteIf I'm reading past posts correctly, 5.4 is where H-Bomb changes the game system, right? I somehow missed it, but to clue you guys in a little, 5.5 wasn't even playable til 5.5.1 and it's still VERY basic gameplay. The most you'd really get is a preview of some of the menus new looks and even then; not very interactive.
ReplyDelete5.4 is a misnomer, it is really more like 0.1 Beta (with 5.5.1 being 0.2.1 Beta). There's not much to see, and it'd be more letdown.
I would suggest to H-Bomb, that once he's got this version to the point that he's comfortable in calling it what it is (Beta); for this ONE time, release it Public at the same time as the Donors as it is essentially a new product. After that Donors get early access as usual.
It'd be better for everyone to consider 5.3 the final version of Alpha and reset the expectations of this game from now on because it's NOT the same. Functionally, 5.5.1 plays around the same level of Alpha 3.0 for those that remember that far back (as a context).
Calling it a beta would be disingenuous, as a beta is feature-complete. BS is still very firmly in the alpha stage.

It may still be AN alpha, but it is completely unrelated to previous versions other than art assets and should be denoted as such. ReplyDeletePlayed 5.5 and its very nice. I like how the animations are silky smooth, even on my POS laptop (unlike the last full version of the game). New client system is also a big improvement as well as the new breeding menu. Can't say I'm ecstatic about the game release rate, but I'm diggin' what I'm seein', so keep fighting the good fight. TONS of animations still needed though... Good god, so many animations needed...

DeleteI was trying to hold out til the game was back to at least the level of features it had before to play, but i broke down and tried it today. Gotta say, all the WIP aside, the interface is great and everything is running smooth. Can't wait to see the future iterations when he's got the new ui fully decked out with all the features and when we start getting more sexy scenes pumped out. Gonna be AWESOME. Keep chugging along h-bomb.

As an aside question, is there like, a list somewhere of monsters that you're thinking about adding to the game? You might be able to get some of the toxic freebies to keep quiet if you keep everyone in the know about what is being planned instead of what is being released to the people who donate. Kinda like telling everyone what's coming up instead of telling everyone "Hey, this group of you get to do this now, YAY!" (sorry about the rant)
Well all i see is that patrons will be our point men that will guide this game into be a less buggy/bugless game so as a non-patron I will wait for the frees will be coming soon (no job right now so i cant play sadly) but keep up the good work H-Bomb nice to see that you are developing more as a developer. ReplyDeleteLove all of the new potential in the breeding and progression system. Playing through the 5.5.1 demo, I noticed exciting new interactions (like the gradual increase in pregnancy chance the more often the same pair mates, which adds a new level of strategy). I like the use of energy points vs. always racing against the clock, and I like that each possible mated pair allows me to see how much energy will be spent (again, gives me interesting control in terms of planning).
ReplyDeleteI prefer the new request system to the old. The requests are cleaner and they put a face to the order. I hope some of them get more complicated later on, or more challenging.
Excited for the male breeder, too.
Suggestions/observations from 5.5.1 (knowing many of these changes/ideas are probably already in the works):
The action announcement banner (the black bar that flits across the top) is a nice addition, but currently moves too slowly. It gets backed up if you perform a lot of actions in succession and can sometimes still be delivering news several game days later. It needs to get out of the way quickly, or at least keep up with the activities a little better.
The new menu system is nice--but there is considerable lag when you have a number of monsters and need to scroll down the list.
The new menu system makes everything more manageable and easier to see. When selecting monster 1 and 2, though, there is a bit of clunkiness in having to click the tabs at the top to switch over. Otherwise, I keep replacing monster 1, thinking I'm doing the rapid click for 1&2, as in the older versions. This could just be my own limitation as a player, not being completely used to the new tab system.
Great improvements and lots of potential!

Proper developers are paid quite well. He may be unwilling to give up more money. Although, he could find someone who is straight out of college or struggling to find work and pay them less. Also, hiring a new developer would require collaboration. He would have to teach the developer everything about his code, and the new developer might have more efficient way of coding. They'll probably want to recode the entire game.

They even wrote their own engines, did their own art and music, all while keeping everything compartmentalized for easy readibility and upgrading. Two even made their own version of minecraft using a completely different languages. You're using Flash for god's sake...

I mean, look at people like eluku99 or fenoxo. eluku99 updates once per month, linearly in terms of content and consistently while only having a donation system. Although Fenoxo's is text-based, he updates every few days if not every day to keep players in the loop, not to mention one could decompile his game and still understand what he's doing, and fork their own version if they wanted.
When will Alpha build 5.4, 5.5 and 5.5.1 be released for the general public. I really want to play the versions after 5.3. I want to do the quest for Kala. Really good game. Keep up the great work.

ReplyDelete... apart from all that removed content (wtf?) it is kinda starting to look better, feel more balanced and you got rid of the slow start. i like the new requests, that you don't get stuck because you don't have the right traits. without the traits in the requests it feels a lot more natural and i think you should stick with that and try to balance it in other ways.
Hey to the guy making this awesome game. I thank you. with that being said I am a low class blue collar wife and family guy in the WV area. (not so anonymous I know) But I want you to know that I support your game 100% hell the wife even likes to watch me play. I am a HUGE gamer at heart. I just hope you don't listen to the people who talk to you like your a crook. I am not a very tech savy guy and heck I can hardly get downloads and add-ons for computer games to work half the time. I have however a lot of friends in the code and gaming communities and I have a good guess how hard it is. it took my buddy two months just to program an alarm clock on his computer. so yea two thumbs WAY WAY up buddy and keep up the good work. If I can spare some cash in the future you will be the first to know.
