Alpha Build 3.5

UPDATE (5/19/13):
Thanks to CoyoteRedMoon for his Kala art (sorry for scribbling on it, it's just for this scene I promise :P)

As ever, game breaking bugs are very possible in this version. Also, saves are will not transfer. One of my goals is to allow saves to be transferable by next month.

- Cumshots: All of the male-female monster pairings should now have cum-shot endings. They'll cum outside unless this breeding produces offspring, in which case they'll cum inside. The animations are still very rough and unfinished, so bear with me (final animations will include much more movement). The player does not yet have cum-shot endings for her breeding animations, but she will in the next update.

- New dialogue: Included some new dialogue teasing at the further storyline of the game and introducing you to some more characters. All the new dialogue will occur within the first few days. Much more to come on that front.

- Stat growth has been significantly changed, thanks to Werefrog for the equation, and Lonewolf and the rest for helping out with the math discussion. This may seriously affect balance, let me know how you like it.

- Other balance changes: made breeding modifier transfers harder, made human intellect a stacking trait

Known issues/intended fixes/changes that didn't make it in yet:
- Demons are not yet implemented, removed them from the monster type count to make people stop searching for them :P
- Unlocked traits that are species specific do not show up in the unlocked traits menu (Too Stronk, Greased Lightning, etc)
- Store monsters still accrue traits too quickly
- Animations/names in the monster pens are still a bit screwey
- There are some shenanigans that occur if you attempt to sell to a client while the game is asking you to release a monster

There will be another update on 6/2. If I can help it I'll do another update inbetween but there's a significant chance I won't be able to. I'm going to try to update the voting features and add sketches ASAP.

  1. Due to your time constraints, have you considered postponing the feature donations for a while until you catch up?

    Instead of piling more and more on that you can't get done?

    That way it's less stressful and you have more time to actually add things in that won and stuff you actually want to add to the game yourself without consistently worrying about lack of time.

  4. Will the Holstaurus animations be completed in the next patch? (Harvesting, Holstaurus on Player, Holstaurus on Holstaurus)

  5. Really I personally think that the transfer change makes it much to hard. Maybee a bit of an increase was needed but even so this seems like an overcorrection. I really like the new Holstaurus harvesting animation.

    I wonder how the random name works, is it of a list or something else. In the case of something editable I could help put in some pornier ones prehaps?

    Anyway really fun game all things considred but the transfer change almost breaks it

  7. Love the game keep up the good work
    A few things.
    1º not picking a monster type before closing the monster breeding tab results in the list staying hanged in the Back.
    2º Money is a bit of an overkill, since you make it scale based on how much you've earned it can grow out of porporsions. 1000 - 4444 - 15xxx - 35xxx - RIP.
    The problem was the request were near impossible, gold was a stalion with 207 charm (i literally bred 15 all capped at 204) silver was a wolf with nursing, (no smthng smthg) and <150 strg, considering the breeding required for the trait i got one with 250 base strg which was only getting lowered 6 per breed with a negative strg I had...
    Bronze were a concotion of rly high stats on monsters or worse, rly low stats on em...
    I also think traits should be inherited more often, and be 100% inherit if both parent have em.
    Latly what's the deal with the cat's harvest item, you use 1 feed to get 1 feed, isn't that pointless or am I missing something here.
    One last thing, albito is annoying... since with the human trait steal you will get it and after that every single one afterwords will have as well, resulting in only albino chars and chars changing collour because of stealing it, I'd make it non-stealable and only breedable to avoid after-breed colour changes.

    1. yeah... the monthly payments should get a better way of scaling (it can get really extreme after a couple of good months)

      about inheritance of traits, at least in the previous build there was a trait that did exactly that, i havent found it yet on this one but i suppose its still there as a gold unlockable trait.

      "albino"... annoying, yeah... but there is a to get arround it, "are you sure your not adopted". now if you dislike that too, then it gets tricky and much slower. and thats learning "strong family resemblance" but this could get so slow, that is too impractical, but still posible.

      also i noticed some small glitches if you use the spacebar (prably happens with all hokeys but i only used spacebar to test it)...

    2. oops... sorry i left you hanging, my mistake...

      you see there seem to be a glitch that cause some weidness with the sun and makes clicks stop working properly... just leave every menu with the spacebar and after a day of going town, buy 2 monster, breed them and then sleep you should be able to find the glitch.

      sorry wanted to explain better but couldnt get the right words for it.

    3. "Are you sure you aren't adopted" won't work because it's the trait that is conferring them the look. I just don't like how later in the game because of human intellect leaching from one another you end up will 5 monster all looking the same, (gets even worse if you get bored of renaming them)
      As for the glich was unable to reproduce it, didn't even know spacebar could be used to close the tabs (*dear god, the waste...*) but mouse clicking the only problem I noticed are in the stable the friskin names and when completing a request having to click over 20 times.

  8. it DOES work... and its thanks to the way they stack (or should i say override)...

    "albino", "are you sure you aren't adopted" and "strong family resemblance" can all exist together on the same monster, but only the one can be active at a time... wich one? the one you learn last.

    example 1:

    human intelligence
    are you sure you aren't adopted
    albino

    on this situation, "are you sure you aren't adopted" wont work because its being override by "albino"...

    example 2:
    human intelligence
    albino
    are you sure you aren't adopted

    on this example its "albino" wont work because its being override by "are you sure you aren't adopted". also since you already have albino on the list you shouldn't be able to learn it again, fixing the problem

    example 3:
    human intelect
    albino
    are you sure you aren't adopted
    strong family resemblance

    here "strong family resemblance" is the only one that should be working for the same reasons as on example 2

  9. I personally think you made transferring breeding modifiers a bit harder than it should be. I realize it's a balance thing, but it really makes long-term breeding projects kind of a pain, and since I consider improving your main stock to be a lot more fun than selling to clients (don't get me wrong, the money-making aspect is a significant part of the game, and it would feel kind of empty and dull without it, but it's not what I play the game for), this update is kind of dull to me. If you're going to keep it at this level of transfer, I think you should at least make a consumable that makes monsters more likely to transfer their modifiers to their offspring or something like that. As it stands, long-term breeding projects (which is what I enjoy most about the game) are just a pain since it can take weeks or even months in game to get an acceptable offspring.

  10. I agree with you on that, plus as mentioned above the gil cost getting out of hand makes the game annoyingly hard after a few good months. Maybe there should be an easy mode or something, just a way for people to casually enjoy the game without grinding away at it.

  13. With the new rate of breeding modifier transfer, you pretty much have to save-scum to make breeding for modifiers remotely viable, which kind of defeats the whole point...

  14. I'd consider making the other upgrades for the farm unlockable only after x months, they are not very expensive and because the game only has so little content you can get them a bit too fast and then thee is nothing more to be eager for.

  15. Is it possible to get four or more positive breeding modifiers and no negatives? Or am I wasting my time trying?

    1. Its possible with 4 I'm sure of that, however you must also lock at now blue they are, they lighter the better, I had a 4 bm one but they were all black so usually its best to just focus on 2-3 blue ones

  16. I normally have most of my monsters with every possible breeding modifier at green. The rest i normally have single negative modifiers(for the picky clients)
