Alpha Build 3.3

SOUND WARNING: Some of the animations have sound

UPDATE (4/15/13): Alpha Version 3.3
There's a high probability of game-breaking bugs in this version, so let me know if you spot any ASAP and I'll try to hotfix. There have also been some big balance changes that haven't been thoroughly tested so let me know how it is. For the most part this update is pretty small. Also, the tutorial is now out-of-date in many places, sorry.

- Reputation has been removed, and replaced with a system that determines the stats requested by clients and possessed by store monsters based directly on the stats of monsters that you've raised so far.

- Delilah raises her demands based on how much money you've made (this system is still a placeholder, right now she just asks for an additional amount equal to how much you have left over when she comes for the check, so it can be avoided by going on buying sprees right before she comes).

- Clients have been changed (thanks to Ironvein for the suggestion): Ranch upgrades are no longer unlocked through gold clients and instead are all available at the start of the game as long as you have enough money to buy them. Instead, when you complete a silver client a new trait will be unlocked, and when you complete a gold client you have a chance to unlock a rare and powerful trait in addition to the chance to unlock regular traits.

- Consumables now increase MOD by twice as much and are worth half as much money. There are also new traits that, once unlocked, can give a monster the consumable effect of another monster type in addition to their own consumable effect.

- A number of minor changes to how various traits and stats work.

- One unfinished cum-shot animation :P

Also, since some are wondering how the implementation of the pregnancy and cum-shot animations will work:
Player Pregnancy -
The player has a rare chance of being impregnated by a male (or futa, once added) monster. This chance will be increased by special traits and consumables. The player will be pregnant for seven days (subject to change) during which she'll take longer than usual to perform actions and will be visibly pregnant in her animations. At the end of this period she'll lay an egg (with animation, time permitting) that will hatch into a monster of the breed she was impregnated by. This monster will have special traits/appearance. In the future I may make it so that special hybrid breeds are only available this way (ie, player can breed with a dickwolf to get a wolfman).

Cum-shot Animations -
When you breed two monsters together you will be able to view a cum-shot finish. The monster will cum inside or outside depending on whether this breeding produced offspring.

EDIT:
Additional Notes:
- The day changes instantly now instead of there being a night animation. In the future I might add some little thing to indicate to you that the day has changed as it's a little confusing
- I'm aware of the weirdness with how the name flickers, etc, when you hover-over monsters in the pens, it is currently a work-in-progress

  1. Hey, found a bug already, on day 2 in-game :P

I tested it a bit, and found that it is repeatable, and I can trigger it (even on day 1) by: going to the town and visiting a shop (not necessarily buying anything), saving at some point, then visiting the consumable shop. At that point, all windows or menus stop letting you X out of them, and pretty much everything (except the white-ish buttons on the sides of the screen) stops responding or letting you click on it after that; the current save file also becomes corrupted, so that trying to load it immediately causes a weird-lookin' screen, and re-loading this page seems to just delete the save file.
Also, sleeping and then saving produces a similar glitch, so... pretty much the only way I can get a save file to work at all is to do pretty much NOTHING but saving.
Not sure what the actual cause if this is, but maybe if you try it yourself you'll get an idea.

    Just lettin' ya know =P

  2. As far as game balance, it seems to have gone from a bit too easy to a bit too hard, even when taking into account the bigger emphasis on increasing MODs. I get that you wanted to slow down stat progression, but now increasing stats just feels like beating my head against a wall. Unless there's a trick to it I'm not getting.
Also, having clients ask for harpies and holstauruses (holstauri?) right off the bat means that you have to restart many times before you can get viable starting conditions. You might want to consider normalizing the initial clients' demands a little more to take into account what kinds of stat/breed combos are more likely at the start, otherwise most of the time it's impossible to get any momentum going.
Hope I don't sound too whiny. Just wanted to give some feedback on it. Keep up the good work!

  3. about the save bug. I am having the same thing. The save is fine when you do at the beginning of the day but if you save in the middle of the day, then it becomes buggy, corrupted and deleted on reload of the game. I never had an issue like that in the previous versions of the game.

    1. For me even if i save in the morning it won't let me load it again

  4. Early on, had a catgirl and a dickwolf, both bred from the same two bought monsters. After two or three breedings the offspring's stamina stat went NaN. They had zero breeds/harvests per day. Could not reproduce the bug. It was on day 8 or 9, no saves or loads, no upgrades, no consumable use.

    1. Had the same.
I think this happens if STR =< 0
Because the breeding modifier will be 0% too then.

Every Stat then will be modified with the 0% and goes 0 or NaN.
I think the minimum value on every stat should be 1 not 0.
So things like this cant happen.

And something with the breeding stat calculation seems odd.

If you breed a monster with a 0 stat (except STR xD) with a monster
that has a positive multiplier in this stat goes max.
for example: (0/500 Sta bred with 13/70 Sta) after the breeding the 0/500 has 500/500
      Hope this helps bugfixing. xD

Also i am missing lamia and slimegirls. T.T Will you add something like that in future? xD
That would be so cool. xD
      ----------------------------------------

Just found the game, and i think its awesome! :D I hope to see more from this! :3

The only thing that bugs me is the look of the harpy, its to thin or something like that..
Harpy's are my favorite monsters and i like them more like this:
      http://danbooru.donmai.us/data/sample/sample-32770b565fc53812e7da4828a407d2e2.jpg
But that's just my personal opinion, and the one you have is really not bad.
Just wished for my favorite. xD
      ----------------------------------------

If you need any help with the game, just let me know. Im kind of creative with music and design things.
Not a pro but i can help. :D Just my english is bad. xD

  5. May I request that you change the farm upgrade system to instead being each new upgrade costs more then the last, but you can get the upgrades in any order you want? You should also limit clients to only what you currently have available to you, and limit how much a player can do before getting a new monster some other way.

  6. Something I'm surprised no one mentioned, Where are the balls on the male monsters? They're just....missing. Just a piece of anatomy vanished, due to perspective and angling you would be able to see them in most, if not all of the sex scenes.

  7. previous versions saves dont work ? or its just a bug ?

  8. I am getting the NaN bug anytime a stat drops to zero and then breed that character. It can spread from character to character through breeding. Are you dividing by the stat is some calculation?

    ReplyDelete
  9. I do like the random name thing but on the difficulty... Previously the very weak monsters could still be breed to get a +15 or so boost. Not good but you could make it past the 100 stamina mark in 10 days. Now I'm getting +1 or in some cases 0. The difference between 5 days until two breedings/harvestings a day and 50 days is tremendous.

  10. Breeding that is not marked as Incest is resulting in Herp/Derp offspring. May be bug.

    1. what does herp/derp mean?

      Delete
    2. Its the name of the trait representing inbreeding.

      Delete
    3. what does that do to the monster that has this trait?

    4. Googley Eyes, Probably lower value.

    5. This is a result of the way I do the incest calculations currently that I'm changing in future versions. (Right now if you do a non-incestuous breeding between two monsters with a family history of incest they have a high probability of having a herp-derp)

      Delete
    6. Well maybe that should stay in then. Its a good disincentive against using one breeding pair to generate your entire lineage, provides coverage for grand-parent incest, cousin incest, etc.

BTW, I haven't said yet how amazing your game is. I just found it yesterday. It looks really great already and I can't wait to see it develop. Next time you have some donation voting, I'll be there.

    7. Good to hear that Herp-Derp is gonna change. For one, its a boner-killer in an otherwise sexy game. Not just visually, but it seems childish to make fun of "the retardeds".

Secondly, the effects of line-breeding can be cumulatively neutral, negative or even positive. For example, its effect on the immune system is that it remains specialized in the same manner, rather than being diversified from a different gene-pool. If there is already a family history of heart disease, the risk will be increased by line-breeding about as much as if the breeding was done by two unrelated people with a history of heart disease. If there is no such history, then a line-breeding would result in LESS chance for heart disease than if only one partner had such a family history.

I understand the want to use this as a game-mechanic, but it should do so in a less heavy handed manner. Also, while it doesn't need to be sexy... Please, try to make the visual effects (if any) not look literally retarded. Thanks for your efforts, this really could be an incredible classic. Cheers!

    8. Oh, no, none of that is being changed, just the way that Herp-Derp is calculated.

The monsters look retarded when it happens because it is hilarious to me. This is non-negotiable, I will absolutely not budge on this issue. You have bred the boston terrier (http://imagemacros.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/hurr_durr.jpg) of sex monsters and you must suffer the consequences.

For future reference: my own dumb sense of humor will always trump sexiness to me. I am sorry, this is the way it has to be.

As an aside, I don't mean any disrespect towards people with mental handicaps. I actually do volunteer work assisting in therapy for mentally handicapped children. The Herp-Derp trait is intended to be evocative of highly over-bred dog breeds like boston terriers and pugs.

Also, if you have a boner for incest breeding and this is messing it up, that's just more incentive to unlock and stack up incorrigible on your breeding monsters.

    9. It is incorrect to think those breeds are the way they are simply from line-breeding as opposed to breeding partners being chosen specifically because they had those goofy traits, related or not. Think about it; Line-breeding is only actually necessary when traits are first discovered, or otherwise extremely rare. Many people consider strange looking animals more exotic, and the rarer they are the more a certain clientele will seek them out. This alone nearly completely insures that the strangest species of animal will continue on in some number.

Obviously, its your choice, and I absolutely want you to take the game in the directions you choose. If you can both think that being retarded is hilarious and also that it is wrong to make fun of, than I will leave that to you. If you wish to also use retardation to insinuate that incest invariably leads to "Retard Babies," that is also up to you. If you've found a way around that cognitive dissonance, then so be it. I still like the game your making.

    10. Different anon here.

as i have said before breeders do use inbreeding to get the traits they want. however not all traits are good. for example, "Ruby eyed whites", poor dispositions, becoming smaller. the smaller a new breed is the more it had to be inbreed to get there. The more you inbreed the more chance recessive traits will come up and some aren't dominate for a reason.

also i rather have the light hearted "herp-derp" over the: mutated, doomed to die, please cull me now, reality.

  12. Good game, but the save needs to be really fixed. when i save and put the game down then come back to it, the save is gone, and if i save and just continue playing the whole game crashes. and the stats increase way to slow now, doesn't have to be as fast as in 3.1 but at little faster is nice, so your not spending over an hour trying to get the stats half descent. and the game over no matter what you do is a bit of a pain. but still love how the game is going. Not trying to complain just trying to help.

  13. Was playing and one of my Dickwolves got NaN on his Dex, it spread like a virus to all the monsters he nailed, and then they passed it on to their partners until none of my monsters could increase their Dex. Had to release and get rid of the whole crop as there was no way to get rid of the NaN thing.

  14. Stat growth is not working as intended.

Lots of stuff broke in ways I wasn't expecting.

Will try to have it all fixed by Friday.

  15. getting a lot of problems with the breeding modifiers *i think* when two of them go at it, their stats only rise by like 2 or 3 no matter what strength they have.

  16. After day 6/1 I noticed that names where overlaying eachother and interfering with the top of the screen. It may have started earlier but that was when I noticed it. It looked like they were bleeding down from somewhere off screen like a list that was overflowing or something.

  17. Just something I noticed generically, not sure if bug, programming oversight, or intentional: It appears that when breeding monsters the odds of getting a male are SIGNIFICANTLY higher(almost 4 out of 5 for me). Not a game breaker by any means, but very frustrating when trying to increase my stock of harpies.
