Alpha Build 7.2 for Patrons

Hey guys, I'll be putting up alpha build 7.2 on the patreon in a few minutes here; this is a very small update content-wise since it's following the hotfix and is primarily for the purpose of testing out our new set-up where animations are now in their own separate swfs. All of this month was more or less dedicated to animation prep work (you can see all the new poses we've been pumping out below), and you'll start to see these new animations in the game starting next update.

Just make sure you keep the BreedingSeason7.2.exe or .swf in the same folder as the "media" folder. Let me know if this makes game performance better (or worse) for you, and we'll likely be hunting down bugs and hotfixing over the next couple of weeks.

7.2 Patch Notes

Additions
- Colors have been added for tigirl, tiguy, and primogem
- Animations have now been split into separate .swfs, this will help significantly in adding in more animations later and ideally increase performance; please let us know any issues
- Animations will not progress until you click the arrows now, so you can view different loops as long as you like

Bug Fixes / Balance
- Summoning sickness has been reduced to two days
- Minor bug fixes

Known Issues
- There may be some weird game behavior when monsters with disabled traits are obtained
- There's some small cosmetic issues on the new ferals, and some ferals lack color variants or have unfinished colors
- Pen silhouettes for some monsters are currently incorrect and show up as base monsters instead
- Some animations have been disabled or are glitchy due to the new overhauls and colors
- Colors are incorrect in a number of pens and animations

I'll also be bumping up the public release up to 7.1

  1. Woohoo! Thanks for the hard work, I'm excited to try the update!

  2. I don't know anything about programming, so what you're doing seems very impressive! :D I think it's better to not have any new animations yet, because then next month we can expect a bigger amount added, instead of just like 2-3. so keep it up guys, the project is visibly moving forward!

    1. You don't even need actual programming knowledge to create this kind of game. Most game development software use codeblocks to make them easier for people with zero programming knowledge to make games.

As for the animations, one does not need months to animate something from a fixed angle, especially something of that size. Hell, each of the animation has only one scene! The animator could at least finish one animation per day, since he doesn't have any real job or whatever.

      I know this.
I did a diploma in animation and I'm now taking a degree in games programming.

    2. I can attest to this. I've tried Sphere, Unreal and RPGMaker. It's all very structured and geared towards ease of use... unless you want to make something interesting, which requires a lot of custom scripting.

If you want from the ground up and have to supply all the graphics and sounds and interactions yourself, you could either try Assembly, C++ or Ren'Py.

      Delete
    3. Unless you have some game to show us to prove your point - you are both talking out of your ass!
I also have some experience in programming and game dev, and I can attest there are TONS of hidden issues and things to work around before you can ship anything remotely decent.
Sure, you can use any of the open platforms to create "somehting" with the freely provided assets, and it will look and feel like complete crap. Just try the tons of available RPGmaker games out there and see for yourself.
If you want something stylistically consistent and revolving around your own idea - you will need effort and time!
Building a modern game in Assembler? In this day and age? From scratch? I'd like to see you do that!
And chugging out an animation a day? Are you serious?! Maybe if your game looks like a school project, you can afford that. I bet you will cry to high heaven, if they try this approach with BreedingSeason.

    4. I never said I've ever made anything. I said I've tried.
Regarding Assembler, I didn't say it was a good idea, I just said it was possible.
Sphere as far as I know isn't supported any more, and I've never really spent any great deal of time with Unreal. I've given Ren'Py a fair shot and made an attempt at a game that I had an idea for about a year before I started. Constant redesigns forced it to take a back seat for far too long. Sure, a load of RPGM designers just go for free resources, and that's their prerogative.

Ren'Py, on the other hand does not hand out free resources. You either grab or make them yourself (or ask a generous soul to help you on that) and go from there. It's all handled on code level, so there's no visual assistance until you go for a test build. Which will fail if you've made a glaring mistake. Sometimes the test builds will work, but crash out once they've found an unhandled exception or huge error that shouldn't stop it running.

I've never used Assembler but I have seen the code for it. It's horrible. The lowest level system I've ever done was a Pseudo-Bank account manager written in CoBOL as a college project. I haven't touched it since.

So don't tell me I'm talking out of my ass. I can't draw or animate worth a fart, I know that. Never said the BS team should be faster. I like that they're taking their time.

I came across a "BS Inspired Game" built on Unreal and in very early development. At the moment that game is shallow and uninteresting. BS, on the other hand has a fair amount of hidden things to find and I like that. They can take as much time as they need.

I've never used Flash in my life, and have seen a lot of shittiness with it, but BS is one of the few exceptions I'm glad to have come across accidentally.

Calm down and stop being a white knight seeing things that aren't there.

    5. I ran into a glitch where I could not fulfil any orders. The appropriate monsters don't show up as choices. Is this a local bug? I did change the filename so as to attempt to keep my saves between patches. Is there a better way to do this? Anyone else experiencing the same glitch?

  3. ON a hand, im sad i live in this time so to speak, i mean i wish i had discovered the game when its complete, to enjoy a full new amazing game from 0, because to be honest this is a masterpiece in plans of interactions and art. played it a looong time go and even then it seemed like such a promising game, we can already do so much stuff, yet in alfa, cant imagine how satisfying the game would be when its actually done. Thumbs up and thanks everybody for the hard work! ( As a side note, ever considered adding sort of a futa mod for the breeder also in the future?, or will that bring too many complications?)

    1. I know right? It's good and at the same time bad to have discovered this game in the development stage :) I think people were already asking about the futa Breeder, but don't expect it to happen until they at least finish all the animations, which means a looooooong time from now.

Failed to deliver animations which has been promised yet make people to wait another month again to see new animations but don't get too hype over it because there is no guarentee they will not broke the promise...Again.2 years goal to complete all animations? This delay just making the goal look absurb now. Summoning sickness still there(yuck). I bet it is too hard to put disable option to it? :(

    2. Summoning sickness is fine now, it seems to be just for the day they're born. They really need to keep their promises on animations though... they have half a dozen employees now, right? they should be churning out 5 or 6 a month...

    1. "What order are you adding new animations in?"
Animations will start pumping out following down the columns in the Animation Tracker, which will be updated as the animations come out. So the animations will come out in the following order:

      Fbreeder X Monster pairings
      Mbreeder x Monster pairings
      Catgirl x _______ pairings
      Futa Catgirl x _______ pairings
So on and so forth as the chart dictates

    4. I would have suggested doing 1 f/breeder animation and 1 m/breeder animation. That way at least everyone gets something. I too dont care much for playing as a chick, but how they decide to work things os their problem. Already going to be waiting a while for taurus animations anyway.

    6. Yeah, it does suck a bit for the people, who prefer MBreeder. But basically we have to wait for everything at some point. I think it's easier to do it by the list, so that nothing is forgotten, instead of mashing up female and male breeders and possibly forgetting some of the animations ;)

So they are feeling like "If you knew they weren't gonna be in the update, why not say something before hand?" I guess...I decided to come back and download a game as a b-day present to myself. I kept donating, but stopped downloading because I was tired of broken promises. The break actually helped me because now that the animations I had back in like... 5.whatever... are slowly coming back. So.. yay. But yes... everyone.. needs to kinda remember this. The griping isn't gonna do anything. So you have a few options: Don't support it or be patient.

    3. Hell with that. I've been following this game for a while. I'm an solo developer myself, and I'm able to work more progress in one month than what I've seen by this team in the past three. They have a dedicated artist. Their pace is insanely slow. It's almost like they're taking their time to finish it. If people started to cancel, I guarantee there would be more updates, and far more progress.

Harold, if indeed you are developing something, it intrigues me greatly. It's an easy thing to claim, but difficult to prove. Proof of concept videos are useful, but people would be more inclined to believe it if they could see it.

So basically, when 7.2 eventually goes free, all we get will be the codebase rebuild?

    7. @Squark I've been working in GameMaker since I was 13. Currently learning the Unreal API (not interested in Blueprints at all). I was working in Unity before UE4 went public, and I've messed with CryEngine.

Not currently working on a single game, just quick things in UE4. That said, I had an arcade shooter on GameJolt and Itchio last year that had 300 hours of time put in it, yet I had 26 enemies and 10 bosses, all unique,as well as 9 unique submarines for the player to use, and 8 weapons the player could unlock, music and sound effects, and animations. All that in month and week or so of work, by myself. Only reason I took the game down is because I was unable to continue working on it at the time, and I felt it wasn't right to keep people expecting updates (I had a weekly update schedule) when I knew I couldn't provide worth-while updates content wise.

I know damn well what I'm talking about. Don't try taking up for these guys. This game's development cycle is a joke, and if you don't agree, you must be really new to game development yourself, assuming you actually know anything at all.

    8. @Squark Trying to argue with these...people is not going to end well If the team feels it necessary to respond to them they will all I can tell you is just let kids blow off some steam.

    9. Harold, I'm sorry you took offense to my post. It wasn't intended to be that way.
You do have my respect for the amount of work you put in when you had the time to do so, but don't start throwing insults at people for wanting to see what you are capable of.

Mr. X, Arguing? Really? People who have enough experience creating games to be able to take high ground (see above) to point of looking down their nose and hurling insults (also see above) perversely intrigue me. I'd actually want to play his unfinished shooter.

Why is it, though, that people see insults and snide remarks where there aren't any to be seen?

    10. Squark, I'm just throwing my two cents here no need to slit my throat here also Harold complete dodge Wolodo's question they only gave out some info and that's it not a link not a name NOTHING anyone can say what they want here.

I don't know how the fuck Harold Gordo is I even looked for them on gamejolt and Itchio and ever time I get No results found so what the fuck.

From what I can see most of theses people are mad because they didn't get their animations or that Hbomb missed his deadline but when it comes to those people need to take it with a grain of salt.

      Delete
    11. I didn't go by Harold Gordo.
Here's one of the old links I have. I'm not sure which version this is, but it's one of them. I didn't keep this site updated. It might be buggy, and don't expect much, but I had around 300 hours clocked in to Steam on GameMaker when I uploaded this, and it was the only game I was working on at the time. So, with that in mind, here you go. http://www.64digits.com/games/index.php?cmd=view_game&id=5818

Definitely not great, but it's work. If I had a dedicated artist, or if this was my full-time job, I would have been set.

      Delete
    12. And, like I said, it's no longer on Itchio or GameJolt, and it shouldn't have been on 64Digits. I forgot to delete it, I guess. I didn't want anyone expecting updates when I knew I couldn't provide good content per update.

    14. Thanks, Harold. It's a fun, hard game. It's too bad you couldn't keep working on it as even in the Alpha 4 stage it's fairly polished.

    15. @Mr.X I would gladly talk to them during a live stream, but I can't ever find the time to do it -- I work through the day. Next time I'm off during a live stream, I'll gladly try to talk to one of the dev's.

@Squark Thank you! I may come back to it eventually. It's just hard to find any time to code, do any kind of art, and work at a hospital lol. Seems like I'm never home.

Taking into consideration my reply to Cristian's post.... I will say this.. As long as I have been following and then supporting... I had always seen that the animations were being removed in order to up them to the new style of art used in the portraits and stuff like that.... I gotta be honest... The animations that are there look exactly the same as they did back when I first started playing... Or maybe I am missing something >.>

    1. The changes they are making are not meant to be visible. They are meant to reduce the cost of development and support of the end product. The team learned a lot from the work they did initially and part of what they learned about what is easy or hard to maintain required that they change the underlying engine they are developing to reduce the amount of work the artists have to do to produce the wide variety of art we get.

For example, they changed the color and skin systems to give them the ability to add varieties without drawing each variation separately. The artists create "component" images for parts of creatures, such as eyes. Those images use specially chosen colors to represent parts of the image which may have alternate colors substituted in. When displaying a given creature the engine composes the final image by swapping in the creature's colors for the template colors in the component images and then combining all the modified images to form the final image.

To ensure that their system was doing what they wanted, they started by making the new "modular" images look like the old images by default. This reduced the work on the artists because they could convert the exiting art to the new system rather than starting from scratch. With that work done the task of finding the best color combinations could proceed without interfering with the creation of new art.

Note to that for any given animation, the artists have to create these modular images for every frame.

Anyone curious to learn more about these technical details should check out the live streams some time. They can seem a little slow at times but once an artist gets a good pace going it's interesting to see their processes. There's also some useful information in the live chat.

      Delete
    2. I'm not exactly a technical person, and unfortunately I miss most of the streams. So what I understood is the team no longer will have to struggle with "adding" colour variations for the monsters, because the software will solve that problem for them? It sounds like that could really help in the future, and also in the making of animations (even if it takes away just one hour of work all together, it would add up after a while).

Also, as I believe HBomb explained, the point of this update was to make their jobs easier in the long-run, not just push animations into the game and watch it crash.

      Delete
    3. Thanks for the info Robert :) Unfortunately it seems a lot of people (such as me) are from countries all around the globe and as such are not necessarily able to watch streams due to work or sleep. With such a wide spread user base text becomes much more valuable as a means of communication, since as far as I can tell they don't talk during the streams. They may chat, but that is not saved.

      Delete
    4. @Artakons: I actually sent a color manipulation code snippet for solid colors, accompanied by a sample .fla for their convenience and explaining the mechanism in detail to H-Bomb's email when he made the address public for animator applications back in May... 2014.

      Just saying.

    1. I agree. If you truly supported the project they are working on, you would patiently wait for all the stuff you want to come out. Nobody on the team is begging for donations, and they are not obligated to do anything just because someone said "I gave you a dollar, now do this and this and this".

Also, what people don't understand is how difficult it is to motivate yourself to wake up everyday and work FROM HOME (unless they have an office) for 8-10 hours everyday. I know I wouldn't have such motivation, so I can only applaud the BS developers. So slip-ups with deadlines can happen, am I wrong?

And finally! Guys, won't it be just simply better to wait one more month and get a nice portion of the animations in the game? Instead of every month getting 1-3 animations, which would quickly get tiring.

      Delete
    2. Slip-ups can happen sure but i feel like its all the time. But its the empty promisses that pisses me and other people off. Its like you get promissed you get a pony for christmass and you open your gift and find fukin socks. I love this game but i feel like a toy

But I see, where you're coming from, so I think we're both kinda right.

    5. Besides.. It is MUCH harder to get up and travel to go to work and do a job you most likely don't want to do. So I have zero sympathy for someone that can roll out of bed and do his job in his pajamas (or naked for that matter) from their house. *that is a response to Artakon's comment, not a shot at the artists, since they didn't say anything.
Plus, you think this is the only project that gets heat? Any project that fails to deliver is going to get negative feedback from their community. It's just bound to happen.
Yes, at the end of the day, we all (I hope) just want to see the best game possible. But people's feelings should be at the least understood. The whole thing that got most of us into the game was the animations, and then we lost them for good reason. But now that I sat back for a while, I can see what people who are still heartbroken over not getting them feel. It feels like you have been told by Mom and Dad for weeks you are gonna get your favorite thing for your birthday and then the day comes and you got the same thing from last year, in a different color and it was defective out the box. Now imagine going through that every month. That is why some people are really upset.

      Delete
    6. So you are saying that the people who support this project have no place in complaining when something goes wrong? that has to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard. This is unfortunately for you a BUSINESS... doesn't matter if it is a support or not when you go into business for your selves like these folks have by making this project a bill paying thing which I have no doubt they have, the supporters of said project become customers and therefore have a right to complain when something isn't right or is not provided.

      Delete
    7. It's not a business, Mistle, it's patronage. there's a difference, and you should probably look it up. The most important facet of the difference, though, is that those offering their patronage to support a creator are not actually entitled by virtue of that donation, to anything. The creator is not obliged by virtue of that patronage to deliver anything within any time frame, and there is no contract.

If some people didn't understand the concept of patronage and how it differs from business contraction or commission, before giving their money, that's their own fault.

Supporters have every right to complain that they aren't satisfied with what's going on, of course. They absolutely do... It's when they cross that line and begin to assert that their donation actually entitles them to something, that they are in the wrong.

      Delete
    8. Eh... on reflection, I think I might have misread your tone ^.^ You are just defending the stating of dissatisfaction with what's going on and not claiming entitlement at all, and your other comments around seem to back that up... Appologies, then. Just think of the above as a general reminder in that case ^.^

By asking people to stop supporting the devs, we are indirectly threatening the devs. Threats are always a good thing, because if there are no threats, people will grow lazy and indolent.

  24. This is my suggestion to everyone that's supporting this game: delete your pledge, wait maybe two months, come back and MAYBE pledge again. They're not going to listen to complaints, and they're going to ride out the money their getting monthly.

I do some game development in my spare time, and I'm able to make more progress in one month than what I've seen by this team in the last three, and that's with me working solo. When I made games with friends, in our spare time, we made major progress on a monthly basis compared to this game. They have a dedicated artist, so there's no reason it's taking this long, even with color variations needing added, for animations to be ready. I'm getting that this just isn't their major priority, or like I said they're just enjoying the money. They're clearly not trying.

If enough people delete their pledge, they will change their attitude towards the project. They just know we're not going anywhere, and they think we'll put up with the playing around because we're a bunch of horny, perverted gamers, and we want our weird hentai games. Delete your pledge, and come back in a few months. Trust me, you won't miss anything.

A painful month passed but zero new animations implied. Glad I had stop wasting my money which I gave through shared account with my friend. Maybe I should told him to do the same too. Glad I did that. Now I can save my money and use it to buy awesome porn 3D games that more worthy than this.

  25. why dont you create animation dlcs which can be added in the game separately

    ReplyDelete
  26. HBomb, you can combine the convenience of a single swf/executable file for end users while still maintaining separate swfs during development by using the [Embed] tag, similar to how you embed programmatic fonts. Your artists can continue to work in their own fla projects and send you the completed animation swfs. You'll just need to make an asset class that embeds all of them, and then use Loader as usual to create instances. You only take the memory hit for the animated asset while its in use.

  28. To everyone who supports this game, just stop.
The devs aren't planning to complete this game, since if they completed it, you would have no reason to support them afterwards. Can't believe simple 2D animations would take forever to complete.

    Look at StudioFOW for example.
Those guys do 3D Animated Porn Movies, and their progress is way faster than this crap.

    1. You are talking about a team that has a lot of animators and members, the BS team is committed to finish the game and if you dont like the progress of this game then why are you here?, are you trying to destroy a good game? Are you feeling better with that comment?

      Delete
    2. "You are talking about a team that has a lot of animators and members"
      - Yes, and these guys stick to their deadlines and give no false promises.
      - The problem here is that the animated scenes in BS is far easier to make compared to StudioFOW because :
      [1] It's 2D.
      [2] It's small.
[3] It's shot from a single, fixed angle. No need to change angles.
[4] You only need to animate the humping once, and then you just loop it.
[5] This amount of work will only take several hours, you can finish one animation in at most half a day.
[6] The animator is a NEET, he has all the time in the world.
There's no reason to postpone anything. They're just lazy.

"If you dont like the progress of this game"
      - Implying that you like this exceedingly slow development progress, yes?

" then why are you here?"
      - I'm here to criticize the attitude of the devs.
      - If no one can criticize the faults of others, how will there be any change?

"are you trying to destroy a good game?"
      - Apparently words can destroy games now.

"Are you feeling better with that comment?"
      - Why, of course!

    3. Cristian, I believe you are new to BS.
Did you know how long did it take for BS to get to version 7.2?
2 YEARS. Only for that much content. All the money donated by everyone for the past 2 whole years were wasted on these con artists. That amount of cash could have been used to feed starving children or provide shelter for the homeless. They are EA level evil, no perhaps even worse.

    4. I guess you're kinda right. I mean when you look at the saved streams, out of 8 hours, you can see them really work for like an hour or two... That is to say they might be doing stuff outside of the stream as well. But when you put it this way, it does seem like the devs are not giving their own project a deserved focus.

However, it is ultimately up to the team how fast do they want to work on BS. If they decide it will take 10 years, then it's their problem. We the patrons can only eventually cancel the donations and move on with our lives...

    5. Can't understand people a.k.a white knights who 'shoo' others just because they critized the game. I made game too but never once I told my 'fans' to go somewhere else just because they don't like my game. Criticism is a part of the game making. It makes us devs grow. Like a medicine. Bitter but good for health. Well, if only devs learn to swallow it, not spitting it out.

      Delete
    6. Blood Marroon, I don't know if you mean me or Cristian, but I'm not telling anyone to "shoo". I acknowledged what Mr. Anon said, and yes, I agreed with the fact that from our perspective it doesn't look as if the team was doing too much work (at least not as much as could've been done withing each week), especially when we see how little is being done during the stream, or how short the streams are sometimes.

At the same time I'm saying that as far as the criticism goes, it also has to be constructive (because a lot of people in the comments only write "where are the animations?!", which is not exactly doing much). Also, if there are people, who (unlike Unknown) don't have any real knowledge, and only pout from dissatisfaction, then just stop donating money to the project. In that case nobody is hurt.

I do hope that the BS team reads the comments and perhaps replies. I think it might clear up some of the issues.

Criticism is one thing. Structured properly it can help. But what gets people's knickers in a twist is Destructive Criticism, a.k.a. Insults.

    9. Sorry if my words hurts anyone here. Doesn't mean it that way. Destructive criticism is pretty normal. I got few on my first game release. Sure it is stressful but like you say, it depends on devs on how they face it. I took the approach by ignoring it. I have no power to stop such comments pop up in my game page nor tell them "Hey guys...You shouldn't said that...Bla...Bla..It not helpful at all." We can argue about it but we can't stop destructive comments. Hell, even a perfectly working game got horrid critics. There must be reasons why some of us throw tantrums through words. Frustation is one thing. We expected to see what has been promised but got something else. That's an example. So where else these people go to express their disappointment? To the game blog, of course! Anyway, so far I never see any devs stop making their games just because destructive criticism attacking their game page. This is something I really salute.

Rival company? Patreon doesn't work that way.

Everything you just said doesn't negate the points that I had given. And if the devs would stop developing this game just because of one person, it shows how much loyalty they have for the supporters.
They probably won't stop, they want your money after all.

Sorry about the above post, I was rushing to the airport and ended up making some mistakes in my wording.

    12. Didn't want to negate your points, I was merely pointing out how I was interpreting your wording.
Of course they want money and they feel that they have a real product to offer.

The problem (and I agree with quite a few people) seems to be in the delivery. The monthly deadlines are fairly generous and if Subtank (as previously stated) can finish an animation in roughly one and a half days, we should be seeing more of them, bugs notwithstanding.

  29. I'm looking for technical help with this release. Previous Breeding Season versions worked fine for me, I'd just save the exe. file to my desktop from Patreon, and they'd open and work by just clicking on them. With this version it's asking me to select a program to open it with.

I downloaded Adobe Flash Player 20, and tried to open both swf. and exe. with it, and flash opens, but it's a blank screen. The computer I'm using is still running Windows 7, if that's an issue, I don't know. What should I do? Can anyone describe the steps for what to download and what to save where, open what with what, etc? In the comments on Patreon, I just read the the media folder isn't in the correct directory or something.

    1. I got it to work, leaving this because a lot of patrons were confused on Patreon, and I hope this helps.

First I downloaded and installed WinZip, then I went to Patreon, and right clicked on the swf. file "save link as" just to get it onto to my desktop where it's easiest for me. Then I used WinZip to open the Breeding Season swf. that I had just saved onto my desktop. WinZip then showed a version 7.2 swf. file, and below that, a folder that just read "media". I right clicked and selected "extract...", and extracted both of these to my desktop, created a new folder, and moved both "Media" and 7.2 swf. into the new folder. I opened 7.2 swf. with Adobe Flash Player 20, and so far it works.

  31. I've seen stuff like this before. Basically they realize that after the game is done they have to all go get new jobs, so they just take all this free money they are getting and only work on their free time. That way by releasing art that they actually post on their tumblrs months ago it looks like they are making progress, when in actuality they are just living comfortably on their 28k a month and forgetting about this game. only ever doing just enough to keep their fans complacent.

Seriously Star Citizen will release LONG before this game does.

  32. The "I Hate Words" option crashes 7.2 swf on desktop when you volunteer a valid monster for rest stop at the guild.

In fact, many of the bugs reported are reproducible only under "I Hate Words" conditions. Like for instance, the random Dickwolves you can get can be duplicated when "I Hate Words" is toggled. Or the rest stop option takes your energy to 0 instead of reducing it by 300 when you have "I Hate Words" toggled.

I'm reporting this here because logging into the Wiki and using its editing interface is not worth the pain especially because the bugs do not largely seem to be confirmed or acknowledged there.

Keep up the good work, and thanks for the game.

  40. I've found a bug with your sorting. You have it so that by default monsters that are fed and have no hearts aren't listed, and that's fine...
But they also aren't listed in the menu to sell them...

  41. Yes, there are many hidden issues when it comes to game development. Yes, shit happens. But it's TWO years into development, and look at what they have to show. And now they're saying what?! Another two to three years? Are you fucking joking?!

It doesn't take FOUR to FIVE years for a simple fucking point-and-click game. That's ridiculous. An RPG, sure, but not something like BS. My friend Cassy just finished her own point-and-click game in Unity, and it took her a year, 100% by herself, in her spare time. From what I understand, BS this is their job.

No excuses for this. Not saying it should definitely be done right now, but it should at least be playable. 7.2 is half the game 4.6 was (I believe that's where I started my support). It's clear they aren't trying anymore.

I'm not bashing the game. The art is better than what I could do, and it will definitely be fun when it's finished in 2023. What I am saying, though, is they're playing you all. It does not take this long.

All I am trying to do is help you guys. I'm not trying to destroy a game, I just want you guys to know you're being fucked in a not fun way. Someone commented, "Thanks for the hard work!" I am trying to help that person, that is all.

I mean they're using the fucking hotfix as a reason for 7.2 being small in content. Hotfixes are for bugs and small implementations. When I read that I seriously laughed my ass off.

All I'm saying is this: delete your pledge if you want change. I PROMISE you, they will take this serious if their monthly Patreon donations are cut significantly. Stop supporting, and come back in two months. If you don't, you will still have the same game in two months, and you'll be out $10-20.

    ReplyDelete
  42. As a supporter, I am worried by the speed at which you are progressing. You said that you want to finish this game within 3 years and even that is a very optimistic view, considering that you have another 1370 animations to do, which would require you work with a rate of more than one animations per day only to cover the breeding animations, let alone the event animations. And then there's still the art work and all the rest of the game...

I can't see the support you are getting now keeping up for another 3 years, especially considering that you are already working more than 2 years on this game. I don't want to spoil you the fun of working on Breeding Season, but I feel like you have to become more efficient, and that fast.

For example, don't draw out sketches for animations that you wont be able to animate in the next 6 months and focus on finishing the ones you have already sketches for first.

I don't think you have the time anymore to revision all your stuff. In the future, you have to try to get it right with the first try. If you feel like you are burning out, take _some_ time off, but keep up a regular work schedule.

Also your coders need to step up. If Fleetart has to fix the same thing over and over again, then you need to take a look at your code and make sure it's solid. HBomb and Fleetart need to communicate more about what their code does and how it works exactly.

If you really do work to full capacity at the moment, I'd suggest to hire more people sooner rather than later if you want to speed up the process, since it will take time for them to incorporate.

Finally, I'd like to say that I am supporting your game because I like it and because I think you can make this game a reality, but I feel like you are out of touch with reality in terms on how long it will take to finish this game and how long the support will stay as high as it currently is.

(Thanks to anonymous for the template, you saved me quite some time.)

    1. I agree with this statement. As I'm typing right now, Spurple is streaming, and here's what has been done: During almost 3 hours by now he has changed a colour of a feral harpy 4 times! Wow! Amazing! So much work! ARE YOU F*CKING KIDDING?!

Is this the amount of work being put into Your beloved project, which You're getting a lot of money for? A team of 5 people working "long" hours everyday, and we get what? 5 coloured sketches and facial variants for one or two of them in a WEEK?! That amount of work can be done by one person in 2-4 hours, depending on how often you have to pee. I've seen masterpieces being drawn by amateurs in less than 3 hours, and they didn't have the nerve to ask money for it. And here we're talking "long" streaming, during which we basically watch cartoons or movies. BECAUSE NOTHING IS BEING DONE. Seriously, I don't know, who is so stupid as to give money for such obvious, if not scam, then just BAD WORK. If this was a normal job, I would say only FleetArt would not be fired, and even then he would be hanging on a thin thread.

    4. If the devs ever want to listen, of course we will talk stright to him. But we should know how 'busy' he is working this game probably don't have time for complaints.(sarcasm) Beside what is the point of devs creating this blog if we can't express our disappointment over here? Putting that aside, these kind of things used to happen in previous V7.0 release. Many had expressed their disappointment in good ways and some even give them advices. Now, the same things happen again. I will leave it to you to wonder whose fault for all these negative comments and insultment appear on this forum.

    5. @Artakons I can't speak for the rest of the commenters, but I work through the day. I have never had the chance to watch a live stream. I've been following these guys since they put their 4.6 on Newgrounds back in May 2014. I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THEM FOR ALMOST TWO YEARS. This isn't me blowing smoke. I've seen it go from a fun game back in 2014 to nothing now.

I've said stuff in the past, but this is the most vocal I've been about it. "but when it comes to actually confronting the devs", literally, I have been commenting on their blog now for a while, what is any different than a live stream that would be ignored?

And by the way, I have watched some archived videos of their streams. They seem to never do anything significant. HBomb's recent video is a joke, and Vanilly's is... well, go watch it if you haven't, and you'll see what you're supporting.

You ever try telling a friend, "Man, you're girlfriend isn't being faithful," and all he says is, "No, man, shut up. You don't know, shut up."? That's you guys, right now. I'm trying to tell you you're getting played.

    6. @Blood Marroon @Harold Gordo, I assume You guys probably read the rest of the comments on this post. At least I hope you did, because then You guys would see that despite me trying to see the positive side of this whole situation, I also admitted that what You are saying is right. I do agree that the devs are lazy and very little is being done. I also agree with Newbie Plays, who rightfully pointed out how little work has been put into such a long stream (it's still possible to watch the last Spurple stream, and yeah, for how long that stream is, the amount of work done is practically laughable).

My response was simply a follow-up to Cristian. If Newbie was watching the stream as it went, and yet instead of confronting Spurple he would just rather complain on the blog, then I can only say "keyboard warrior". And it applies to all the others, who do the same. Because just like you guys I can almost never catch the stream, I'm in the wrong timezone, so instead I watch the saved videos, and comment here. However there are people, who comment on the blog in the time when I presume the stream is going on, so why not just go there and directly talk to the team? Especially since it seems that the devs regularly ignore (or at least don't reply) to posts like this one, which already has over 120 comments.

  46. I want to begin by saying again, “I’m enjoying this game immensely!” I understand there will be bugs and I understand there will be delays. It’s an Alpha test for gods sake.

I have been playing 7.2 since it came out and I have noticed some bugs that I think you should be informed of if you are not already aware. Many of these are issues that 7.2 was intended to address but I don’t think they turned out as planned.

I will separate what I believe to be bugs from what I’m fairly certain are features that were simply not implemented yet

    BUGS:

Not that I’m complaining, but the Summoning Sickness appears to be randomly not functioning. I have seen it last 1 day (the monsters birthday), I have seen it last 2 days (Birthday and next day) and I have seen it not present at all.

Catgirl X Harpy animation does not step through as described by using the arrows. It runs the same way it ran in 7.1.1

Catgirl X Futa Harpy animation does not step through as described by using the arrows. It runs the same way it ran in 7.1.1

Male Breeder X Catgirl animation – seems unchanged. You can’t really tell if it steps through or not since the animation didn’t vary much before. Needs a Happy Ending

Female Breeder X Futa Holstaurus - Eyes are missing from Breeder until last step of scene. Steps through using arrows as intended.

Female Breeder X Demon animation does not step through as describes by using arrows. It runs the same way it ran in 7.1.1.

Futa Holstaurus IDLE doesn’t show up in the breeding coral or in Selection when required to Donate / Keep / Release.

Catgirl X Harpy animation shows clipping when Catgirl has Big Hair.

Catgirl X Stallion needs a Happy Ending.

Catgirl X Demon animation does not step through as describes by using arrows. It runs the same way it ran in 7.1.1. Needs a Happy Ending.

Elfgirl X Stallion animation is disabled but opens to the pasture scene and then has to be closed. Needs a happy Ending.

Futa Catgirl X Stallion animation is disabled.

Catgirl X Futa Holstaurus animation is disabled but opens to the pasture scene and then has to be closed.

Dickwolf X Harpy animation is disabled but opens to the pasture scene and then has to be closed.

Futa Holstaurus X Male Elf animation is disabled but opens to the pasture scene and then has to be closed.

Futa Holstaurus X Futa Elf animation is disabled but opens to the pasture scene and then has to be closed.

Catgirl X Male Elf animation looks wrong with Stepping. Also needs a Happy Ending

Facial features for Neoteny Catgirl and Neoteny Kittengirl are not present.

On the Fulfill Request page, a Stallion that meets the requirements is not showing as available to meet the demand.

Kala’s Idle image is not showing up on the Breeder Request board when she has a request due.

Idle images on the breeding coral disappear and reappear randomly once Futanari traits are available.

The Success screen for the Idle Newborn Stallion flashes up before the breeding sequence gets underway and tells you that the breeding was successful.

Wild Dickwolf (random encounter) X Highest Ranking Catgirl on ranch animation is disabled. – It starts but all you get is the empty pasture and the arrows, then the scene needs to be closed.

Aitako’s Surf and Turf – The text for the encounter proceeds as if the breeder is female no matter what the gender of the breeder is. – Note: since this is going to be removed later anyways I don’t expect this to be a priority

BTW - there are three errors on the animation tracker
    – Futa Elf X Male Breeder is not enabled but shows as enabled in 7.1.1
    – Male Elf X Futa Holstaurus is not indicated but was enabled in 7.1.1 now disabled.
    – Futa Elf X Futa Holstaurus is not indicated but was enabled in 7.1.1 now disabled.

    NOT IMPLIMENTED YET:

Audio - probably not until the Beta tests begin

Tutorial – Margo just skips to the end no matter what you choose

    ReplyDelete
  47. Continued from last post....

    NOT IMPLIMENTED YET:

Bulletin Board in St Lily’s shop needs a Counter to let the breeder know when the next order is due to arrive in the Shop. As of now, all you can do is attempt to make a new order and it will either tell you your current order is due in X days, or it places your new order. There should be some sort of calendar you can check without having to place a new order to do it.

    QUESTION:

If you cross two FUTAs, why don’t you have the 1st scene (first arrow tap) show Futa A giving it to Futa B and on the 2nd scene (second arrow tap) switch positions and show Futa B giving it to Futa A?

Then as a result you could still get one or the other as offspring; but as a Special Super Rare result, you could get twins (identical or fraternal). What do you think?

Please understand that I do not criticize your incredible work, I just hope to inform you of issues that you may have missed when releasing the patch notes.

  51. Got another question:

From the games point of view, what are the consequences of Incestuous Breeding? It's done all the time with livestock to keep certain traits prevalent. I understand the moral issue here but then there is the trait “Incorrigible” which provides the breeder with a 20% chance to avoid the ‘consequences’ of incestuous breeding. What ‘consequences’ are present in the game?
I have had two occasions where the traits I needed to complete a breeding request were on step-siblings and breeding them got me the trait combination I needed with no drawbacks that I could see. Have the ‘consequences’ not been implemented yet?
Is there somewhere in the notes that detail these ‘consequences’ or is that part of the Breeding Tutorial that doesn’t work yet?

    1. I've been wondering this too. I don't think there are any penalties coded yet, aside from having a Gremlin. You can sell them to clients (EG, you can sell a gremlin harpy as a full harpy) or donate them. Or even breed them, if you're of such a mind. Also, they won't get animations IIRC.

So, as yet no penalties that I've noticed.

      Delete
    2. Incestuous breeding (including humans, other animals and apparently sex monsters) leads to an ever decreasing gene pool in that family which causes things like malformed limbs, decreased mental and/or physical health, infertility etc.
This is represented ingame as gremlins who give "useless ink" and afaik are unable to breed - in short, a failure in breeding.
And while the close breeding to preserve/accentuate sertain traits is done both ingame and IRL, both times you have to keep adding "fresh blood" to the mix to keep things healthy.

    3. Well, should've read the first response, I guess they are able to breed. I do think though that they'll change that in future updates.

  52. What are the DEBUG codes for? I know you have to be a higher patron than myself to get them but what do they do?

I suspect that they enable the disabled scenes that have been turned off because they are not completely ready due to colour or continuity issues and high level patrons can turn them on if they want to see the scene anyways even if it isn't perfect. That would be my guess because what else could they be for?

    1. According to the Wiki, it allows to:
      Add any amount of money,
      Add any amount of GP,
      Open an animation gallery,
      Add energy,
      Add monster types,
      Change NPC affection,
      Set breeder stats,
      Set monster stats.
      Give monsters traits,
      Add new request,
Change face or hair or color or skin tone of monster, and
      Play events

    2. So does that mean if you don't pledge enough to unlock the Debug codes, you don't get to play events? Are events for everyone or only for those who pay enough for them?

    3. Events are for everyone (if you have the correct version of the game), but without the debug codes you just have to wait for the in-game calendar to be on the correct time (autumn, winter etc.) for the event. The codes just allow you to make the event happen immediately

    4. Is that information on the Wiki so I can find the date my version of the game will be having an event? What versions support events?

  53. Alright, I'm removing my support.

My reasoning is not the same as some on here. I've been supporting this game for 2 years. I've given $160 in that time. I like this game a lot. I don't want the devs to cater to my kinks or fetishes however... I am gay. I like guys. I like guy on guy action. There was a tiny bit of that originally. Now there is none and with all the art and new animations being worked on there doesn't seem to be any M/M stuff even being made.

I've kept my pledge patiently and there doesn't seem to be any real reward for doing so. For months I've looked in, excited when more material has come out just to see a lot of straight and some lesbian interaction and animations. I'm taunted by lots of wonderful new male artwork but nothing involving putting those males together.

I'll still keep watching and waiting but I'm afraid I can't keep paying for now. I'll renew my pledge when I see something of worth.

    1. I know your pain. I removed my support for different reasons (meaning I just think the developers do not do as much work, as they should for a PAID job).

But I agree, I wish to see more M/M action, but for that we have to wait until they finish the FBreeder stuff, which is in approximately 7 months considering the team's speed...

    1. Go tell that to solo game developer with zero budget/donation but able to do massive yet impressive works alone by him/herself in short time.

  57. I am playing version 7.1 and i think i have found a bug, though it might of been fixed by 7.2.
    -Details-
I bought the Elf Stockades, and went over to Roxie's shop to buy elves. In there I found an elf with the Feral Trait (a Primogem), but it had no picture. I bought it to see if they were a male or female and found that there both. And in the Stockades I can't find it (name or clickable).
    -Simply-
Primogem has no picture and doesn't show up in Elf Stockades.
