Progress Update

Hey guys, I'm going to try to keep these progress updates going, if not every day than at least three-four times a week. Right now I'm working on getting the breeding animations working; it used to be that I had each individual monster remembering what each of its animations were for each pairing, which was just plain inefficient. As soon as that's done I want to get the new dialog system started finally.

I'll likely be putting up another build around Sunday.

  1. Posting updates every few days is more realistic. Promising to do ANYTHING everyday (except eating and sleeping) is just setting yourself up for disappointment. Post when you can, and when you've made good progress. Keep plugging away, I'm enjoying the game.

      Trust me, everyone that knows me if very unfortunate. I have a hard time understanding people and being normal, so I come to the internet to be an obnoxious prick because it eases the slow but unyielding rot that eats away at my self esteem. In all honestly I am nothing more than a sad lonely man with no hope of entering any gene pools. This, as you can see, is the product of a mind long since abandoned by the world. It is the mind of a recluse, a freak, and possible a horrible human being in general. So please, do not feed me. I am a troll, so let me starve without your attention.

Also, I can't follow who firedemons is talking about. Going to assume no one; their comment is just a presentation of language mastery.

  5. Two moths later and still no payable version, I honestly keep asking myself why I am still supporting this Project...

    1. You did it to get the newest build before the non-patrons, easy as that.
      So when it does get released, you don't have to wait an extra month.
      You could try gambling though, taking down your patron when you think it wont be released, and put it back on the month before its released.

      Delete
    2. Well said, except for the gambling part. We're not paying for a specific version to release nor buying a project. It's Patreon- we're supporting an artist and their development of a project. If you like it and can afford, be a Patron. If not, wait for the free version. No rage required

      Delete
    3. Not raging at all, I still want to support. But H-Bomb made a lot of promises and is not sticking to them.
      Like an Update every two weeks, or the voting system. And by the way the "no fucking reaction October" just was not fair (and again he promised a playable version on the 31. of October...).

      Again, I am not raging, just letting the H-Bomb know how I feel about his behavior. Aaaand I am really looking forward to the male Breeder!! :3

  8. will the male breeder be implemented yet and will their be some new animations or animation variants keep up the good work guys.
    from, J

    ReplyDelete
  9. Unsolicited advice, ho! A table of animation references (maybe with cells being a linked list of variants or something) might be easier to update/read than each creature remembering their animations. Anyway, the game looks great so far and can't wait for the next build, good luck!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Erm... no, not really. The number of (possible, not necessarily implemented) combinations, assuming n monster types, is:

      * Each monster x each monster: Triangle number of n.
      * Each monster x each breeder: n * 2

      ...which won't fit properly in any array/table, due to the triangular number involved which isn't rectangular because well, it's triangular. NB: With n=9, that's 45 + 2*9 = 63 combinations. Why triangular? You only have, say, Catgirl x Dickwolf, Dickwolf x Catgirl is the same thing.

      The monster x breeder thing obviously will fit, though. For the triangular thing, I'd recommend specifying an ordering on the monsters, then store the whole thing in an associative array (ie. hash, binary tree, etc) in the form anim[][]. That way, each combination has a canonical place.

      Wrap it in a function that lets you specify IDs in arbitrary order (as well as breeder IDs) and that does the right thing (i.e., compare IDs, look them up the right way), then forget about the details.

      Delete
    2. ...in the form anim[lower moster ID][higher-or-equal monster ID]. Bloody markup eats angle brackets.

  10. Is this sunday "build" going to be like the last "build"? if it is, skip it and just put some pics of that girl and her tentacle pet doing sticky things to eachother. And the breeder, male and female, all of them doing sticky shameful things and they all collapse into a smiling ball of juices and contentment.

  11. Just use a modified bubble sort yo. My rough two cents, I haven't coded in forever

    getAnim(catGirl, dickWolf) {

    Variables = paren values, w/e;

    animTable[catGirl,Dickwolf,Harpy, Breeder];
    animTable[catGirl] = [Dickwolf, Harpy Breeder];
    //repeat as is appropriate to make table, assign animations to the different values

    Return animTable[Var1][var2]
    }

    You get the idea. Sorry, I feel guiltily presumptuous now... :/ but I'm really excited for the new update! This is the only way my tard self knows how to express itself.

    In the meantime any of the lovely anons want to destroy my not-code?

      Good thing about this update, is that once all framework is up and running, adding new features should be a breeze.

  12. Thanks for the update! Looking forward to it for a while now, but with patience comes good things.

    Just to offer my humble preference, I do prefer the more regular (weekly or 2x/month) but smallish updates to the large updates coming over 1-2 months. I've played through the game on several versions so far, and each time its a nice treat to find the new content, almost like easter eggs. And it's really fun to get those often.

    Keep up the good work! You and your project are awesome. I really hope some of the negative energy getting spammed out here isn't bumming you out at all. Please remember there's a reason your project has so much support and energy behind it- we love what you're doing.

    1. The saves are in your local stuff, exact location depends which OS you use. On recent windows versions %APPDATA%\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\[random alphanum hash]\[path to SWF]\ breedingseason[version id].sol

      Back it up wherever you want. For reference 'investing' time on current version is a complete waste since forward compatibility will only happen from next version onward (maybe).

I may not be the best at reading codes but i know enough to see what is going on in the code, and i know a little reading code and research my cobwebs will be dusted off mostly and i can comment here and there on how i think you might beable to do a better code, as a useful source to think about... again thanks for the update my friend take care of yourself

  19. Glad to hear it's moving along. Some of the lack of pairings amuses me just because their counterpart is up, like no elf girl+elf girl when there's the male version or even elf boy+player. IDK it just amuses me for some reason.

    Though I'm not a Patron, so I guess I have to wait a bit to see the update. Oh well.

  20. Remember...
    H-Bomb codes on Breeding Season for about 8 hours a day, MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY!

    This game is so impossibly complex that he's barely able to find time to make site updates between all the incredible coding he's accomplishing.

    Give the poor guy a break, people! He's got an almost impossible task ahead of him, coding this insanely complex program.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Wait, for real?! He's working 8 whole hours, five days a week? Is it even legal?!

    I mean, even those developers from big studios only work 10 hours a week at most, right? Doesn't it mean that H-Bomb does four time more work that any normal person would?

    And not to mention that he's doing such an complex job, right? Programming is, like, second hardest job in the world, if I'm not mistaken (right after coal mining), and H-Bomb is doing whole 40 hours a week (YES, 40 hours!). Adding to that third hardest job (being blogger, i.e. updating personal blog) is overkill, in my opinion.

    So, overall, I concur with previous person. In the last two month H-Bomb have done an immense amount of work, so I think he should consider taking a few weeks of vacation. We can't let him overwork himself, can we?

    2. I love it how there are always retards that comment like this. If you are so good at programming and making games is that easy, please I beg you, go ahead and make your own game that will be so much better than H-Bomb's game. Yes he is earning an insane amount for this game, but it is still a legit work. If people are willing to pay, who cares if he takes a few breaks or works less than 8 hours. He fucking found a good ideia and explored the market with it. You are just pissed that he is making more than you with an "easy" job. Please, go dig a whole and bury yourself. Just cause you don't have the creativity or will to code your own goldmine, as easy as it may be (remember flappy bird?) don't go diss on people who do.

    3. First of all, to call somebody who is criticizing the rate at which this game is being developed with witty sarcasm a "retard" is disrespectful and childish.

      Second of all, can you give me one example of how the dev team isn't dragging the development of this game out to put more money in their pockets? Sure there are updates, but there hasn't been a playable update in nearly 3 months (~$70,000). An now S-purple (previously the one shining light of game development progress) has taken a full month of time off. I'll admit that he's been working on the game for nearly a year straight, but a month off is really pushing it. But its not like there are are literally HUNDREDS of animations that need to be made for this game. And I know their are supposed to be two other dedicated animators hired for the expressed purpose of accelerating the animation process, but one (Mittsies) has never even once mentioned this game once on his website/blog/patreon (suspicious) and the other (forgot their name) doesn't even have a blog/website/twitter or whatever for accountability what-so-ever (also suspicious). And in the nearly 3 months that sir H of bombs has been recoding the game, 5 animations are all the animation crew can muster during the Nov 15th update? 3 animators can only put on 5 animation given 2.5 months!? So 3 animators, 2.5 months, 5 animations... that's 2/3 of an animation per animator per month... That seams embarrassing to me if you're getting payed to do this for a living.

      Tell me again why we're being "retarded" for being upset that development is suspiciously slow...

    4. I never understood people that like to discuss how much money smbody has and how carelessly he spend them.
      If you can do it better - just give to H your resume and he will be glad to accept such a talented programist in his team. If you have definite suggestions - post them right away, they will probably be helpful to H's team in any way. But please don't count money in other peoples' pockets, that's just pathetic...
