While I'm a fan of Schwig in general I do think some of this stuff's a bit on the cutesy side.

Point of concern, the new art looks great but I notice that there isn't room to add new barns in the picture and therefore no new monsters; are you planning on enlarging the ranch background to add more room? I'm just concerned that you may be limiting the potential of the game in the long term. Basically, where would new barns go?
I believe our plan is to have the ranch scroll down to more building spaces.
Cool, as long as there's a plan. I just hate to see a game with so much potential get neutered by missing small details like that.
You could also introduce some mechanism where you can rent additional land for your ranch in order to unlock the option to buy new barns.It could go something like this: you find that you've bought all the ranch upgrades, but you still know that there are more monsters (per example, because that saint told you so or because the store sells consumables from creatures you still can't find.) So you visit the mayor of the town, and they give you some task (fulfil three gold-level requests for the mayor, they're feeling lonely and want a few interesting pets) which gives you (the option to buy) some meadow that expands your ranch, which in turn unlocks the new upgrades.

i see you plan to revamp everything withg that art style... yet so far all your animations have been using flash shape tweaking but the new art style just begs for frame-to-frame pixel animation which would dramatically increase file size and work load
That's what I'm wondering - the artwork we have seen so far is pixel art which can't be animated the way vectors are meaning that every ounce of content in the game so far will have to be remade, in a slower and less efficient way.Unless the current monster design is kept, but then they will look completely out of place next to these backgounds
The way I understand it is that all the old art and animations are being redone and will be phased out as it is completed. Think of the old stuff as merely placeholders now.
Pretty much all the animation in the game currently has been done using Motion tweens, rather than Shape tweens, so replacing the vector graphics with pngs is very doable. That said, Shwig is going to make more intermediate parts for me so that the animation can be less rigid and transition between different angles more naturally.The effect we'll be shooting for will be something akin to the animation in Vanillaware games, I imagine: http://i.imgur.com/iNLVRti.gif

i know there have been a couple of naysayers regarding shwig's art for this game, but i think it could be a perfect fit, and it's gorgeous to boot! i am concerned that the new style will make it hard to re-do the animated parts of the game, though, since it does seem to warrant frame-by-frame spritework. curious to see how you two handle that particular hurdle, i'm sure it'll look awesome!

Hmm, I already anonymously posted how psyched I am about this, but I do have a concern:In the pic of the breeding ranch, we see the usual buildings (harpy nest, dickwolf kennel, etc). Wouldn't this necessarily limit the number of structures to house creatures in, or will the ranch be redone when more creature types and there relative pens are introduced. Or are there no plans for new pens/creatures?Additional kudos, great move going with Shwig, yadda yadda :)
I already asked that earlier in this post. Seems that he plans to just have additional acres/areas that we be accessible when new barns become available.

I really like all the new art and all and game/story improvements you talk about,but shouldnt more focus be on some more animation combos? Although I admit its fun to play even with the animations turned off, we have to remember people play this because its a porn game. We play to LOOK at attractive sprites doing the naughty. I was kind of disappointed to hear you didn't plan on doing combos for each.

Maybe some slower idles animations would be good and different styles of them (Would make the game more peaceful, specially in combination of the new art) -- this could be taken to make different personalities by the monsters in a future sight! In the cage the cat could sleep at the floor or stand at the wall -- it would make it atmospherically! (Same animated birds in farm picture would be fine or contend like this. A cat that walks in the town from one side to the other sometimes!)The Art is fine, it makes it round and give it something special but a end of a right decision should be taken by an animated sample! I finde the representative style from the bildungs in the art to excessive!The Town is to small in art, I would try to make it posible switch to "right", "left" and "depth" (the way they are in the future picture) by the centralplace of the town. It shold be expandable for future idears, a bank, park or a cafe for people! In other distriks it would be interessting to set there a carpenter and sawmill! The Last two could used to upgrade the bildings or build them!
